Play Monster Hunter then.
Well, I don't know about the OP but I move around a lot in this game and there are several examples I can think of off the top of my head (turning away from ahriman, running away when moles when they go underground, and trying to anticipate and dodge gnat teleportation shock attack things). Sure it's not the fancy jump and do somersaults in the air you might be asking for, but if you're simply standing in the same spot all the time, maybe you're playing the game wrong? Also, you should probably bare in mind that this is a game that takes strategy and positioning seriously - surely jumping and dodging all over the place kind of makes that whole system moot?
On another note, things that have been confirmed to be added by SE:
1. Class customisation of attack motions and actions (whatever this will be exactly remains to be seen, but it should spice things up even a little bit)
2. Jumping. There. You can jump. So the next time you want to dodge an attack, why not just jump to the left instead of running to the left? Action enough for you?
This thread has failed to distinguish that FF is not an action game series, the action game part of FF has come in in the sequel and spin off incarnations. Action game =/= newest evolution of gaming, or better in any way, its just a different genre. So you can't just be like "make this an action game" when FF isn't even an action series. Wait for the Deux Ex mmo lol. And anything during or after Human Revolution is SE btw, they bought the IP for it.
It's not some obscure pop-culture reference, if that's what you meant, but it was a reference to the pretentious, holier-than-thou attitude some people have when talking about autoattack and their "acquired taste" thereof.
And I don't think combat is really that much of an improvement since before patch 1.18. Enmity changes were good, but the whole combat system just got pretty boring. And it was already boring to begin with.
Yup. Games like X-2, XII and XIII may have had the characters doing these sort of actiony movements in battle, but the OP should realise that these were simply automated character animations implemented for dodging and attacking. It has the exact same effect as just dodging by the word "DODGE" appearing above your stationary character's head. My point? Adding this sort of stuff to the game would add nothing beneficial - it's simply aesthetic. That's if these animations are automated. This thread has failed to distinguish that FF is not an action game series, the action game part of FF has come in in the sequel and spin off incarnations. If the animations are controlled by the player by player input (which I think is what the OP wants!) then that's even worst! You might argue character immersion, I argue battle convolution.
so you just want to see words put over your head telling you that you dodged when you didnt press a damn button?......lameYup. Uh no, that's not what I said. I said that seeing the word DODGE appear when you dodge an attack is the exact same effect as your character doing an automated somersault animation when you dodge an attack - the only difference is that doing a somersault looks prettier.
Sounds Pen And Pad Boring People.....Very Boring If Your Satisfied With This Battle System, And No Nothings Changed And Most People Notice It Or They'd Be Coming Back.
Auto attack isn't an acquired taste. It's not some obscure pop-culture reference, if that's what you meant, but it was a reference to the pretentious, holier-than-thou attitude some people have when talking about autoattack and their "acquired taste" thereof.

It's a feature that lets you chat while attacking and a feature found in most RPG's, MMO or otherwise.
