Yoshida did keep his promise, and that was bring FFXIV to the PS3. Is it on the PS3? Definitely is. You just can't expect him to hold down an entire game because of the few people still using what could be considered a technological relic at this point. He stated that PS3 would be supported throughout 3.0, and then they were unsure about the future going from there. I don't recall him ever claiming that it would be supported through ARR's entire life, that would be silly. As for your FFXI comparison, the PS2 was released a mere 2 years before FFXI, it was rather new and had relatively powerful hardware at the time. FFXIV came out 6-7 years after the PS3, where it was an already incredibly outdated system, the difference is quite clear.

Edit: Unless you mean the promise that 1.0 would arrive on consoles, in which Yoshida wasn't in charge, or even on the development team until late into 1.0's cycle, no? He did eventually fulfill that promise with 2.0 though.

When I said you couldn't do anything when the Ps4 goes offline, I meant anything online related. It bugs out making it impossible to reconnect without completely restarting your console (or maybe its just me but I heard a few others complaining about it too). As for the promise thing I didn't have too many details on that and I appreciate it clearing that up for me. FFXIV could still work on Ps3 if they manage to lower the graphics more. I played on the Ps3 and the only issues I had were multiple effects going on at the same time causing unsee-able crap and enemies and party members weren't a priority to be seen first which caused unplayabilty at times. I always wondered if I could just turned down all the graphics by a buttload like the PC it would run tons better but we didn't get those options. I could be wrong but SE never tried. :/

    Low - Low 2
    Maximum - Maximum 2

Props to whoever manages to play it on PS3 if it looks worse than low, I coudln't even manage without HBAO+ now, let alone on very low with low FPS. :x

It can actually. Shadows could be turned off, textures can be tuned down alot more than Ps3 can, fps can be adjusted, distance can be adjusted, theres a bit more but its ben a while since I played on my laptop. I'll give an update soon.

For the HBAO+ thing, I rely on gameplay over graphics if they can be adjusted.

HBAO+ has a very minimal impact on your FPS for the visual difference it brings, around 1-3 FPS on my card. I built my current rig a few years back to get the best of both though, I value gameplay more, but graphics do make the experience undoubtedly better for me. FFXIV's gameplay isn't exactly revolutionary.

You got me there. At least make it playable is what I'm saying though.
