About a week after airships came out, my fc and I had completed the parts for our first one. We decided we wanted to make money so we can buy a mansion within this xpac, so we put it up on the board. I was careful to check past sales and average them to get a fair-ish price; there were three sales ahead of ours and so we put each piece up for anywhere from 1-5 mil(the hull was 5, and the previous sales had been for 6.5 and 6 mil). The next day I check the mb and someone put theirs up for 1 mil. That's the only kind of undercutting that drives me insane.

If I'm selling NQ then I'll go to the next 5 or 0 down. So if someone's selling for 1000, I'll sell for 950 etc.

If I'm selling HQ then I'll do the reverse and add to the nearest 5 or 0.

I can't say I've actually bought from the MB or vendors with the purpose of reselling lol

A little bit late but this is perfectly normal market normalization. New items are introduced; no one has production set up, so the price is high at first. As various crafters and gatherers get supply chains started, prices fall and normalize.

Case in point, Armouir is released for housing in 2.4 and costs 800k-1.2M, 3.1 price, 80-150k.

Never Ending Journey (CS Journal) introduced in 3.1 and costs 350-600k, price will certainly be MUCH lower by as soon as 3.3.

Because every server is so different, this isn't actually stabilizing for us. The armoire is still anywhere from 300k to 1m on Siren depending on when you check. Even the double feather bed maintains 500k each until it finally drops to 300k at it's lowest. So for someone to drop a price from anywhere 1m to 4m within days, that's definitely /not/ normal on Siren, and it definitely doesn't help our market. We have a very, very volatile market and these types of things only serve to drive the not so wealthy players or small fc sellers out of the market before the prices are hiked back up to their highest point again.

I m not crafter but gather, and I'm gathering faster than I can sold, I try selling it at standard price it usually go in a week, but if I sold it at low price, it go within a day

I got less Gil per item if I go lower price, but I got Gil at faster rate

At the end, I m making more Gil per week if I go lower price

I don't do this, but I think I know why some people do do this. When Blue Cloud Coral was selling really well (before they gave it to retainers! damn you SE!) the price/piece was 7k for BOTH NQ and HQ. Why? Because people were able to craft the HQ versions of the items needed that used BCC without a HQ BCC, so no one NEEDED HQ BBCs. I think the same could be said for the Land/Leaf born Aethersands, can craft HQ without HQ mats.

This is due to current MB ignorance. I did this once during the release of 3.0. I saw that level 30-45 vit accessories were selling at a high price, so I went and gathered all the mats and made a bunch of the accessories (and even melded some). I noticed I made too many and would overflow the MB with the items give the illusion that these items are either not popular or are not worth it to potential buyer. I've learneded, sicne then, to just put up a small amount, once those sell, then put another small amount up. But, its just MB ignorance. Some will learn, and some will not.

Believe me when I say I cringe when seeing an item that would sell for 200k and to have someone start selling the item at 30-40k. It hurts. But I also think this maybe due to someone not knowing how to check sales history or what check the MB from their retainer to compare prices.

pretty much. Its like me scouting for things to make just to fill up my retainers. I see tools for like 150-200k BUT these people are not moving any wares. Ill make it for cheap and mine will sell quick.

I take the hybrid approach. I will attempt to sell the tool/weapon/gear for MB price, say 125K. If the item is unsold after 4-5 days; I cut my price in half and drop by 5-10K each day until it is gone or has reached 1/4 my original price.

If the market board had a history function (the prices of previously completed sales of the item) it would work a lot better. It's hard to find a good price reference sometimes for an unfamiliar item. Sellers would know how much they can reasonably get, buyers would know when things are overinflated, adjustments to the average would happen slowly over time as actual supply and demand change.
