    Can we not be forced to compete with Quick Venture freebies?

    Prior to the update to Quick Venture rewards, I was earning gil comfortably selling things that few other crafters would bother to make (AF augmentations, for example). Since few people were willing to make these items, I saw it as an opportunity for profit.

    With these new updates, I found that many of these areas of the market are quickly becoming oversaturated. Since Quick Ventures provides these types of items for practically nothing, the new flood in supply drives the price down to practically nothing. This drastically limits the opportunity for crafters to make a profit. Also, since fewer people are actually crafting these items, it lowers the demand for the materials required for those recipes. Again, limiting the opportunities for crafters to make profit.

    Moving forward, I would like to see Quick Ventures limited to untradeable items or items that cannot be obtained through crafting. Leave the crafted items to be produced by crafters. If there was such low demand for some items, even before the update, I see little reason why these items should be given away practically for free.

    Quick Exploration has and always will be RNG based and allow for any item tag to be gathered. Previous to patch, ventures could bring Darksteel, Arachne, and Wootz gear yet no one complained that they lost money crafting those.

    Those examples are materials and not finished pieces. Materials tend to have higher demand, since they have more potential uses.

    The issue is that the RNG items are obtained for free. These free items have little value to these new sellers, so they have no issue selling them at a price that is worth less than the cost of materials (and eventually driving prices into desynth fodder). Also, since many of these items did not sell that often, there's little point why the game should now be producing them even more. It ends up inconveniencing the people that actually put in the effort to make them, and probably have inventory they've yet to sell.

    I enjoy making a profit from producing a variety of items. I'm sure I'm not the only one that doesn't appreciate the developers limiting marketable options by giving away these previously profitable items for practically nothing. If they are going to make changes to the market, they should be expanding our options, not limiting them.

    Agreed. Markets are always changing and oftentimes what made lots of money once will eventually stop. My advice OP is to find a new item(s) to sell and craft. It's the nature of the MMO markets.

    I think you misunderstood him, the quick ventures brought the gear from wootz, arachne and darksteel, not only the materials and that before Heavensward.
    If you had a retainer high enough geared they could bring back all things you could dream of.

    What I dont understand is how people were upset with quests handing out free HQ gear for HW release, but are just fine with retainers bringing back crafted gear. Its almost as if the reason is because the gear we are talking about (wootz and stuff) requires materials that are difficult to obtain, and people are looking for a free handout.
