really there is no reason in the game currently to cause someone not to use there penalty to get an advantage.

Just Q for a roulette if you get a super easy one, like cape westwind or ifrit story mode do it, if not leave take the penalty and try again in 30 minutes and get back to working or pvping or whatever else you had to do.

If you have other stuff to do and your not on a 30 minute penalty your just wasting it.

haven't noticed this at all myself (luckily) and also I don't understand it either. I just hope this ''trend'' doesn't expand.

I can't understand why everyone seems to hate it. It's really easy and there are plenty of areas where you can gather all the trash mobs and burn them down. The only thing slightly annoying is running last boss as BLM but if you stand at the ends of the arena you can bypass most AoE's except the stupid number of targeted ones in the last phase.

They could always add the day long penalty after abandoning specifically a roulette too many times too quickly.

Like say you get a roulette and you abandon it within the first five minutes, or ten, then it's added to the "roulette abandon" count. Too many of that and you're locked out of the DF for the day.

And then we would have players demanding being kicked, while the good ones would be held prisoners inside the duties. There are many reasons why would you want to leave, starting with bad attitude, inconsiderate semi-afk/undergeared players and ending with bots.

Maybe it would be better if less popular instances and in progress instances provided better rewards.

You're right, there are a few good reasons for abandoning your duty, but getting placed in a less popular or rewarding dungeon is not one of them. If you ask the DF to randomly select an instance for you knowing you'll get a scaled reward and bonus, you should take what you get, whether it's Aurum Vale or Ifrit normal.

Perhaps, rather than an increased time penalty for abandoning a roulette, you should lose your roulette reward for the day.

Or leave it alone and encourage people to make friends and play with them?
Because you know its an MMORPG and not a call of duty matchmaking game.

Nope..it's a trend but there's two sides to it..like everything else.

Some people want to be done with something as fast as possible, go go go go go. If they are not happy with a dungeon because it has a history of being longer they will leave. They want the tomes asap and don't want to do much to get them. To me these are people who just have played too much, they get very short and demand that things are done to their perfection. Some people literally want to choose a class, talk to a NPC who takes them right to 60 and let them go into End game.

On the other hand, there are dungeons mixed with the new band of players who refuse to perform simple tasks such as upgrading your gear, using flash, not switching out of their class to their jobs (I've had a few people 40+ who did not want to be their job rather stayed their class.) This mixed with users who refuse to listen, get mad and upset make some runs impossible. If some people come in and see the users are not level synced, or the Hey..someone is new here! message, they bail because of what has happened to them in the past. This makes something like managing poison in AV a nightmare.

I was in there as DRK once and the WHM had all VIT gear, well what was filled in. I've had DPS who had maybe one or two items past lv40 the rest was lv1 - 30, and we couldn't take care of the boss. This even frustrated me, and telling them "It's your gear" just to have them respond "No I've been doing fine.." I can understand how some people will just flat out avoid it.

Like anything else, there's a common ground. That's where people refuse to meet. If I had to guess though I think most of them go into a run and say "Nope this will be 10 minutes too long..my time is way to precious for this."

That works too, I haven't checked though can you do all the roulettes with a friend or two? I think I remember you could only do expert but not leveling. This was about 6 months ago so my memory is fuzzy that's when my last few RL friends were on the same server as I am..now it's just me.

What would that actually do, besides penalize both those who have a valid reason for leaving the dungeon?

the penalty should be it charges them for the month again then uninstalls itself! yeah cause thats helpful. I have been working on tanking a lot recently and I get dungeons I don't like and run through fine, I been grinding Aurum Vale on my dps and tanks never leave, maybe not try to speak for what should be done, its just people not just tanks. Sorry but I am tired of people complaining about certain types of job doing it, its anyone, we can multi class so what to help the problem? be a tank more often.
