I meant stuff like the big glamour things that sell for 10 million or whatever. There aren't any single big ticket items, but there are multiple lesser itemsYou would be surprised how much I can do a day when I'm dedicating myself to it.

culinarian just got a +40 crit food recipe, which is the best food for most classes
what else do you want?
What glamour is selling for 10 mil? The new stuff is already under 1 mil for the high house and the sky pirate is free falling.
I was exaggerating (although the Thavnairian Bustier was like that for a while, but not anymore) My point is that culinarian stuff is consumable, but stuff like leatherworker and weaver is permanent. You're probably not going to pay as much for something that lasts 30 minutes compared to something that lasts until you throw it away or upgrade, which may or may not even be possible until the next patch. That's why the profit margin per item is so much less for culinarian. Some industries work on low profit high volume, others work on high profit low volume. However, it does generally sell faster I think. I don't normally make stuff to sell on culinarian though, so this is just my impression of it.
its not like SE set the price for any of that stuff, it was purely a supply and demand scenario.
the supply of food items is really high which means its cheaper to make and so sells at a lower price.
the supply for those other mats was slow at first due to people levelling themselves / airships or retainers to run the rng game of getting them.
plus anyway have you seen the shear amount of mats needed to create some of those items. that alone dictates a high price assuming people are willing to buy it

It's just a constantly evolving game, they aren't going to meet all player's needs or expectations with every patch. I was looking forward to making an Unending Journey book, but that needs a carpenter specialisation which I don't have. But we just adapt and find thing we do want to engage in, instead of asking the game to be tailored to us. If making gil is what you enjoy, it can be done without relying on culinarian, if meals aren't selling well on your world. Maybe that blue gear on your CUL will come in handy later, or right now for making good food to use yourself instead of selling it.
Gathering is more important right now, so many players are trying to make gil to save for 3.2 and the Materia rush... this ultimately cripples prices. For the moment I kinda put my efforts into HQ crafted Materials, not saturate the market and I try to allow competition to keep it healthy. I can make a stack of 99 HQ Adamantite Nuggets but if I put them all on the MB, it will crash... so I do just a few listings.
Gathering all my materials gives me 100% profit, I buy very little, only if it's dirt cheap and it will save me time. Current end-game gathering gear is non-tradable except for the Off-hand which is crafted. If 3.2 has nodes that have high requirements, you can't just buy into it.
Gathering > Crafting for the moment.
I'm not really sure I follow. If you have most of your classes at level 60, couldn't you simply craft products to sell using your other classes? There are still loads of level 60 and below non star recipes that can earn a decent stream of income. Those items have been my primary source of income for the last 5 months, not 1 star, 2 star, or specialist recipes.
Culi is a long term money maker. Don't sell yourself short. Sell a stack of food at 10K it's a million gill and they will be back for more. Sell a vanity item for a million gil and they will never need it again. Also, you aren't forced to pray to RnGesus for parts that never drop.

the issue with food is the prices , putting food for 10-15k and u will sell it in 10 min , put it for 30k or more and u will sell 1 stack once every other day....if its cheap even raiders that have CUL will buy it to save time , if it cost they wont bother.
