It would be best to keep coffers to own parties, as all 3 parties rolling in every item is grounds for massive drama and is just plain dumb.
That's part and parcel with any large scale grouping. Getting coffers isn't exactly rare to begin with in diadem, especially if that many people are working together.
But they could make the coffers(and thus, the party reward) visible only by parties that succesfully contribute, as they already do.

My FC and some other allied FCs went yesterday as an alliance. It was chaos and pointless. If you communicate with them and meet at locations, you can't even work together. Only a group will get a coffer from a mob.
The whole exploratory mission is a failure (at least for me). When I thought it would be instanced but then you see other people fighting there. We managed to spawn a 1 star mob and the whole map came to kill it, no one in the "alliance" groups got credit, some random party did, so what's the point of that map? It's like hunts all over again and it's not fun. The idea for this content was great, the execution not so much.
I wish we could form our own groups. :|
That "weird thing" is the dev team taking the easy road once again. It would have required some effort on their part to make it work, so they decided to just make an alliance work like three single groups.
without a doubt a complete oversight but not the end of the world... it does beg the question however, did they even try this feature out and if so why wasn't it readily apparent how hard it would be to communicate without an actual alliance.
"Try not. Do or do not. There is no try."
You run with an Alliance because the monsters have huge amounts of health, you are better off going in with multiple groups who get their own personal chests so there isn't any loot rivalry. Smashing through monsters as quickly as possible for more drops is way more efficient than slugging away with 8 people. I'll probably make an alliance that consists of 2 tanks, 3 healers and 18 DPS in future, mass pulling several and AoEing them down.
The way the loot system in an alliance like in Void Ark/CT works fine at the moment, where every party gets its own individual chest. Every class has a 1/7 chance of seeing their particular gear drop, and then 0+ other people of similar jobs in the same party have to roll off against each other. This system doesn't force you to roll off against all the other people of the same job across the entire Alliance. However if we were able to see all 3 chests and roll on the items then the likelihood of getting gear is pretty much the same anyway. I'm not asking the devs to change anything with the Alliance system except to create the ability to swap members between parties (possibly only outside of the Diadem, I could see how swapping them inside could cause loot issues), everything else is already in the game and just hasn't been implemented in Diadem.

Did you even bother to read the post I responded to? That person said it should be 1 chest per alliance per kill.
If that was the case, why make an alliance instead of 3 separate parties? It would be counterproductive.
I think you misunderstood what they said, each group gets a single coffer so there's 3 coffers of which the entire alliance can roll on is what they meant, not that only 1 chest would drop between 24 people.
