I disagree. Hearing that voice come out of little Krile made me wish Lalafells existed in the real world. I'd take her to a movie, maybe dinner, and even BOWLING.

That aside, though, really? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Aymeric and Hauchefaunt and Lucia have that "horrible fake whiney British accent"? Over half the cast has it. What about Brendt and his Slovakian accent? That never rubbed anyone the wrong way?

Ser Aymeric has a very distinguished, fairly deep British Accent. Him and Lucia are about the only ones who have "real" British accents and don't sound like 12 year olds in Harry Potter.

For me, it's that what kills immersion, not the Japanese - and I don't speak Japanese. I dunno, I usually don't have any problem with English voices in English games

I would say "back in the good old days". xD Idk, all the news coming in about various anime being officially released with English dubs, and everyone's always cheering and building the hype - about the dubs themselves at that... And I'm always baffled, like "why would you celebrate that, they're always awful, pretty much without exception?"... idk. Just weird.

But yes, lots of emotion in JP - the way Alphi reacts to Krile's words, I laughed myself silly. And then I tried the English, and shot it down halfway, because...nope.

I guess in the end, it's all a matter of perspective. A lot of people in America (and other parts of the world) prefer the Japanese VOs over the English ones, while in Japan, you could probably bet that a lot of Japanese people prefer listening to English VOs.

Some characters got better Voice Actors in Heavensward, but majority are bad, like horrible. Aslong as they stay away from my bae (Aymeric), I am good.

So far good voice acting in HW:
- Aymeric also known as my BAE
- Ysayle
- Estinien (one of my favourites, VA wise)
- Matoya
- Edmont de Fortemps (realy like his voice acting)
- Midgardsormr (new one not the ARR one)
- Nanamo
- Tataru

The bad ones:
- Alphinaud (His voice is inbetween good and bad for me, but I still miss the old one)
- A certain Scion.
- The Grand Company leaders (why replace when its soooo goood)
- Yugiri ( I know they were going for a Japanese-English type of speech, but my ears bleed whenever she speaks)

I wish they replaced the bad VA and kept the good ones. I am happy that they kept Blake Ritson as the VA for Aymeric. Atleast SE has a eye for giving Elezen good voice actors. Here to hoping they keep Papalymo`s VA from ARR.

Agreed. Aymeric is absolutely fantastic. Probably one of the best of any 2.0-3.0 V/A's.

I just don't know why they would give the others such awful British accents. It would make more sense if even some of Eorzeas folk had different accents. Mix it up a bit... Indian accents, Middle Eastern Accents, (real, Ser Aymeric) British Accents... American Accents. Just as long as they're good. Damn.

These garbage V/As are probably on contract for the entirety of the HW expansion though so we're screwed until 4.0

That's practically a fact, tbh. But a little bit skewed - they tend to consider everything ~English~ to be cool, in general.

What I fear the most is, when 3,0 ends, we will get new VA for the current characters in 4.0.

This actually was the issue in 2.0's beta. The Japanese preferred the English dub.

That being said, the new voices aren't fake British, I'm not sure where the OP is getting that. Some originally may have been, but others like Gideon Emery (Urianger, Nabriales, also known as Balthier), were never "fake" in the first place and Gideon is an absolutely fantastic actor. He should never have been replaced.

I felt Lahabrea suffered immensely from the change in voice actor as well. I didn't find him to sound nearly as intense with a Scottish actor.

I don't know how anyone could feel that the old Alphinaud is better than the new one, probably the worst voice acting I've heard in the game. New one though? Does a decent job, nothing special, but it doesn't sound unpleasant to the ears. Overall though, the voice acting in English is quite terrible, can't speak for Japanese as I don't understand the language, but it "sounds" better.
