We should be able to roll on what they are gathering. Also, ive been told you can roll need on something by switching classes before you roll.

So, healer pants drop you switch from dragoon to healer and hit need. Not sure if that's 100% accurate but if its true its bs. Someone from one of our fc groups said a pug did it last night.

How do you lock someone from changing classes? Or are you talking about them changing it?

i got a treasure chest while fishing, opened it and the loot (some crafting materials) was going into the pocket of the battle classes.

that was after our premade group has left and some new people joined in progress (thought you can't join in progress? do they have a new timer then but in the same group?). after i passed on all their loot i was a little upset :x

You can need items for your class. We did it last night, we got 4 210 pieces and the classes that needed them hit need and got them. How crappy would it be if a pie ss crit chest dropped and the whm had to roll greed lol.

Basically just have the loot rolling period treated as being "in combat" for the purposes of changing gear. If you cant change your gear, you cannot change your job.

Essentially, he's concerned that PuGs are seeing loot they want and then changing to another Role in order to Need on it. Such a tweak would lock you onto whatever job you were on at the time the box opened until the loot is distributed.

you can only roll need if you go premade from your FC airship. from ishgard, premade or random doesn't matter, you can only roll greed

Yeah you can't do that. Our group tested it out.
We killed an enemy, a Fending helmet and Slaying accessory dropped. Our tank switched to Monk and could not roll Need on the Slaying but could on the Fending still.

Also of note: after that, he switched to Fisher. We found more treasure coffers, and he could now roll Need on Slaying (probably because Monk was his last class). He could not roll need on fending

If it come from a chest you can roll on it. No roll on things that go direct into the inventory.
