I agree this completely destroys what 1.0 implemented so well - omnicrafting.
I was thinking of getting back into crafting for 3.1.. But yeah this looks like a no. Oh well.
I'm not really talking about the recipes here... I'm talking about the fact that Specialists were introduced with the intention of allowing one to get into crafting without leveling everything, and they don't. The skills are fundamentally broken given what they were meant to achieve... It was a perfectly good idea to make crafting more accessible with such a system, but the implementation just completely failed... Perhaps if Specialists actually helped people craft, resulting in more people taking up the trade, Specialist recipes wouldn't seem so bad... Instead, 3.0 crafting drove plenty away rather than bringing in new blood, and Specialist recipes just further reduced the population of crafters... The whole point of Specialists was to make crafting more accessible, but instead it isn't doing anything of the sort, instead driving veteran crafters away...
Make Specialists worth a damn on their own merits and Specialist recipes could actually work, though I still think the ideal implementation would have been to have continued the Craft/Control requirement on new recipes, and just given Specialists an innate boost to the stats, meaning Specialists can reach those new tiers easily. Omnicrafting would then still be a possibility, Specialists would then just a bonus, rather than requirement.
The development team generally seem to have trouble finding ways to incentivize and reward people playing the game the way they intended, instead choosing to find ways to make it complicated, inconvenient, or punitive to try to play the game in a manner other than they'd intended.
It's clear the developers want people to specialize, so specializing should be a positive thing. More than that, it should be a positive thing regardless of whether you have one DoH leveled or all eight. Everyone should feel happy about specializing, and rewarded for doing so. That could have easily been achieved by adding alternate recipes that consume fewer materials if you're a specialist, or something similar.
By adding recipes across the board and then restricting those recipes for classes into which players aren't specialized, the specialist system feels more like a limitation than an advantage.
Same here lol stuck at lvl 50, I'll wait to see if it's worth it.
Lucky for me, still have lots of batlle jobs to get to 60 whew! ^^
Sad cause I enjoyed crafting in this game >.<

Now you literally cannot be an omnicrafter.
Cool.
My life while tanking is an existential hell from which there is no escape.
I thought there was also a way to acquire additional specialist soul stones beyond the base 3 that you're given.
I only turned on Specialist for goldsmith so far and kept my other two options open just in case there was something like this coming.
You can acquire an additional Soul of the Crafter for 480 red scrips, but if you already have three of the actual soulstone items (e.g. Soul of the Carpenter) you must surrender one of your existing ones in order to get a new one.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. You can acquire an additional Soul of the Crafter for 480 red scrips, but if you already have three of the actual soulstone items (e.g. Soul of the Carpenter) you must surrender one of your existing ones in order to get a new one.
