Patch 3.1: Crafting Reborn (?)

We can roughly guess. Yoshi-P's said that after 3.1, they'll be back on the normal patch schedule, which suggests we'll see 3.2 about 3.5 months after 3.1's launch, sometime in February. One poster mentioned December, but that's actually for 3.15 (the patch adding Anima weapons).

I'm not sure if "Crafting Reborn" would happen at all in 3.1. The patch note seems disappointing. I still have some hope in it, so i will wait and see.

If 3.1 is as depressing as it is now, then hope will go to 3.2... Yet, if 3.2 is 3 months away, i dunno how i can live with the depression for that long...

I can see myself gearing up in 3 weeks of 3.1, then there's nothing to craft that would benefit raiding... Maybe there will be some business with the i170 gatherers' offhands and possibly rings and wrists? But it seems so empty ahead... The rest are just boring furniture or easy 1 star glamor clothings...

I personally see a lot of potential in this patch. Some of the i180 Crafted Combat gear could beat the Prototype Gordian gear even with only TIV melds. I'm hoping that the new Crafted gear along with SB'ing The Diadem gear will drastically increase TV market availability, and if that happens I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of the Sky Pirate gear could beat the Prototype Gordian gear after melds.

Keep in mind, even after the patch the only gear that will beat the Prototype Gordian gear is Eso gear, Void Ark gear, and the Diadem i210 gear. The Eso and Void Ark gear will still be locked behind weekly limits, and we have no feasible idea for how rare the i210 gear will be from The Diadem, let alone how likely we are to get the right stats on them. Yoshi-P did mention it was possible to get Spell Speed on a MNK chestpiece....

Some people might turn to the Crafted gear for ease of gearing alts or usability until they get an Eso/Void Ark piece. If worst comes to worst, we can stock up on TV materia in preparation for 3.2.

That's my assumption, too. And judging from the recipes, these won't be as difficult to make as the i180 sets were in terms of material acquisition, so there will hopefully be a decent market for these.

Yea, it looks like there are quite a number of stuff to do in 3.1 concerning crafting... maybe it'll end up as spiritbonding fest? I'm excited about doing sky missions with my fellow FC-mates, but I am not thrilled about spiritbonding, knowing S-E will very, very likely make use of the notorious RNG, and make the Tier V appear like 1/5 i185 gear.....

Early datamining places NQ Sky Pirate gear about equal to i170 Law gear, and HQ Sky Pirate gear as slightly better than i180 upgraded Law gear -- and that's before any melds, if melds and/or overmelds will be possible.

So there could be a raiding (as opposed to glamour) market for it, for people who don't want to grind Law gear and Doman upgrade mats.
