I don't even ... are you by any chance trying to troll?seems like a wash and borderline nerf to me. Lets put it this way:
*not reflective of actual in-game fight dps
15 seconds = 5 gcd (rounded up)
3.0 = 0 proc (0 potency) - 5 proc (1050 potency) rng/bulwark/shelltron reliant
3.1 = 150 potency
still sad to see nothing being addressed on Divine Veil and Clemency. These really needed a bit more tweaking with regards to their in-combat utility.
Since Reprisal's effect actually matters you don't want to just hit it on cooldown sometimes. Like A3S if you just bash on it you can lose out on some stupidly OP raid mitigation. Also they have no guaranteed parry so you need to fish for it ahead of time with Dark Dance.
Swipe has the worst effect in the game so you just want to use it for damage whenever possible. Luckily we get a free one every 30s (assuming you don't need to save sheltron for a cleave or something.) Maybe bucklers will be more popular now. I'd say they're different enough, probably maybe. Anyway, Dark Knight cribbed paladin's entire 2.0 defensive cooldown set so who cares.
Why is everyone here ASSUMING we won't need a proc to pop SHIELD SWIPE ?
All they said was that it's oGCD and it has a 15 sec recast..... that in my book means it has a 15 sec recast to obviously prevent spam, but it will still require a proc when the ability is a viable making it oGCD it's something that it was needed, since it did not made sense that it require a GCD and a proc to work.... but the proc AT LEAST TO MY UNDERSTANDING, it's still needed... so rng factor still there....
Maybe the potency reduction is just to compensate the amount of time we will be able to pop it compared to before....
Like some said it's more of a nerf than a buff, kinda on the middle ground where the change won't affect anything else but the gameplay of the class...
That's exactly what I was saying, they got made extremely similar but because they aren't carbon copies it is fine and no QQ.
Basically proof that you can move aspects jobs in the similar directions without the world ending.
I think towers will do better because hopefully shelltron will have a decent role some form of physical busters.

The look similar on paper, but they play completely different in battle that\\'s why people don\\'t complain, that\\'s why no one cares, simply because they are not the same. Both playstyle are completely different and when you actually have all 3 tank you can see it and "feel" it, doesn\\'t matter how similar they are as long as they "feel" different there\\'s no problem, tbh they are similar on some aspect but don\\'t have to be too bright to see how DRK is different from miles away to PLD....if you want to see which classes are suffering from being too similar just look at BRD/MCH those are 2 classes that are the exact same copy of each other and it\\'s kinda sad since they are the only 2 classes different from the rest...
I'm sort of disappointed by this change. It's nice that we got a DPS buff and all, but it really fails to address the bigger issues regarding tank design that SE has on their hands.
Also, it's a TP nerf when tanking.
If Goring Blade got its TP cost reduced by 10, that means in 2:40 you have saved (10)/[(9)(2.5)]*160....70 TP. So it'll get you through what...one extra combo?
Kind of the opposite of what Yoshi was saying in his interview. I legitimately question his competence when he so blatantly missed the mark of what his staff is doing.

I hope it doesnt need a proc since PLD also needed an OT dps boost.Why is everyone here ASSUMING we won't need a proc to pop SHIELD SWIPE ?

I am just kinda happy Pld got something. The Shield Swipe dps/enmity buff is nice, but yeah thier are still a lot of problems with Pld that has not been addressed, and really shouldn't be ignored. Because the problems will only persist in following patches, and Pld will still be the weak tank out in raids with the 3.1 changes. Well...they won't be out since people like to fling the word "viable" around so much, Pld instead needs to be competitive with the other tanks. So it will still always be harder with a Pld in a raid group still, which is kinda dumb since it was thought as Pld made progression in raiding easier in 2.0. I don't know what to think, but I am a little bit happier with the changes, but also a little disappointed this is all we got coming to us in 3.1.
It is upsetting how SE is misinforming it's player based with false information all the time, and are never really upfront with us with important issues. Which has developed me to have a huge lack of faith in the FFXIV Dev Team.

I haven't played PLD in a while but I'm curious how else these changes alter the dynamics of the class.
The other thing that changes with this is single target enmity. So how does that alter the use of RoH, especially in fights with limited Physical Damage.
Things to consider:
Additional Royal Authority uses due to not needing to maintain Enmity with RoH (TP cost of RA vs RoH?)
- As a complete package how does that alter PLD performance?
