Well, it's an ability now, and unlike Reprisal it doesn't actually... do anything (Pacification, but that's largely useless compared to Reprisal's debuff) so having both a CD and a proc seems a bit... strange.
The shield swipe buff is awesome and will be great for gameplay too, even if it'll only be a dps buff if you are MTing which is kind of a bummer though.
Happy about the bone being thrown to PLD. Still dream of them getting even -remotely- comparable AoE dmg to DRK/WAR though lol. Like even half of their AoE dmg would be fine man.
On a related note, anyone else like how nobody is complaining about homogenisation?
Silver lining on underwhelming changes.
It's not homogenization as long as they are still playing differently. As long as PLD and DRK don't get a stacks mechanic to manage and WAR and PLD don't get MP to manage with something like Dark Arts and stuff, it will not be homogenization. They could even put Storms debuffs from WAR on both PLD and DRK and it would still not be homogenization. If they had the exact same DPS output, mitigation and utilities, it would not be homogenisation as long as they are still getting all of these tools with different mechanics. The gameplay is what makes classes homogenized or not in MMOs, not their performances.
Shield swipe and reprisal play exactly the same way now, just to different effect.
seems like a wash and borderline nerf to me. Lets put it this way:
*not reflective of actual in-game fight dps
15 seconds = 5 gcd (rounded up)
3.0 = 0 proc (0 potency) - 5 proc (1050 potency) rng/bulwark/shelltron reliant
3.1 = 150 potency
still sad to see nothing being addressed on Divine Veil and Clemency. These really needed a bit more tweaking with regards to their in-combat utility.
That's the most stupid thing I've ever seen. Currently in 3.0, if you get no shield swipe proc, you're doing what, nothing ? No, you're rotating your combos, which are doing more average potency per GCD than what shield swipe is doing (210). With shield swipe being off the gcd, even if it's 60 less potency, you're basically gaining completely free 150 potency every time you use it without delaying your combo rotation, while in 3.0 you're delaying your combo in order to use a move that makes you LOSE potency. To be more accurate with your calculations :
15 seconds = 6 GCDs (it's plain and simple, 2.5 x 6 = 15)
3.0 : 6 procs = 210*6 = 1260
3.1 :
1 proc during Rage of Halone + Royal Authority combos back to back = 150 + 200 + 260 + 150 + 200 + 340 + 150 = 1450
1 proc during Goring Blade + Royal Authority combos back to back = 150 + 230 + 540 + 150 + 200 + 340 + 150 = 1610
In the lowest case it's a 190 potency gain and in the best case it's a 350 potency gain compared to your 6 3.0 shield swipes in a row (which never happens and would be super dumb to do if it happenned since it's a DPS loss).
