No offense, however that makes no sense. In this particular instance, the person was purposely griefing an RP we were having by emote spamming and using flashy abilities. In what manner is getting annoyed by someone interrupting us deemed "you need a thicker skin?" Sure, we did ignore him, but that isn't the point. This isn't tumblr, where something as little as proper capitalization (or lack thereof) can "trigger" someone. Basically, you're saying people shouldn't get annoyed at all.

Growing a thicker skin means being unable to handle criticism or getting offended over someone calling you stupid on the Internet. It shouldn't be carte blanche.

With all due respect, I disagree with your assessment. The following is my opinion.

While the player in question was purposely attempting to disrupt your RP, he/she, in fact, had no method of actually doing so. At worst, they were a distraction and something that ruined your immersion a little bit. Getting irritated by that is fully within your rights, and I'd never say otherwise. However, at the same time, getting irritated over that players actions is also a silly thing to do, given how harmless they were - certainly as harmless as someone calling you stupid on the internet. I think it's a fair assumption that you made this thread due to the irritation this player caused you. If it really did bother you that much, then I do very much believe that you need some thicker skin.

I'm in no way condoning what that player did. But I do feel that the one that let his/her harmless actions get to you...was you.

What I found especially amusing was the comment about not wanting blacklisted people to buy your crafted items, I got a good laugh out of that. I honestly feel sorry for anyone so hypersensitive and petty as that. I do wonder how anyone who lets what is really just a bunch of pixels on a screen (as blacklisting cuts off all communication from them) bother them to this extent can survive in the real world.

"Grow a thicker skin" is not a reasonable thing to tell people. That's like saying "have you ever tried NOT being sad?" It's a stupid and callous thing to say to someone.

Just because I know that implementing this feature would come at an enormous cost to the client doesn't mean I don't see why someone would want it. I think such a thing isn't worth the computing cost especially since there are avenues to deal with constant harassment already, but you should never tell someone that they need to "get over it" when legit bullying is going on.

Great post. I have more normal players on blacklist than bots. Most of them are male characters, they are disgusting on this game. I was suppose to be a female char. I'm a man but I like the female appearance. I will never change because I know that's the male community of this game is a garbage.

I hate blacklisting folks, but that one time I had to do it, I had reasons to. The thing is, I kinda agree with this topic. You see, that person I had blisted, was preventing me from Teleporting. He/she kept hitting "Trade" every time I was close to warping out, and even followed me around.

In some cases it absolutely is, because not everyone is going to bend to accommodate others.
Life is rough and unwelcoming sometimes, both real and in XIV. A very valid piece of advice to deal with such circumstances is toughing it out, also coined as having thicker skin. It's up to you to take the advice or ignore it. Don't criticize someone for simply mentioning it.

I don't see anything wrong with this idea besides it maybe taking some time to program.

There are a few details though that would make adding this pretty tricky. If you do happen to join a group with someone you blacklisted would they appear again? What about fighting mobs out in the world? Would you see an enemy attacking the air if it's fighting someone you blacklisted?

First, what is being requested is likely technically impossible. To make one character disappear from just your view. Even if it is possible, what a waste of development time.

While it has been years since i took a programming class (and i am sure there are major flaws with the above example, the general idea of how to implement something like this would not take that much effort. Quite simply all the system would have to do is check against your blacklist, this can be done client side. If you are NOT in a party then the system runs. When you are in a party then it does not, that way even blacklisted players would show up,
