Make no mistake, MMOs are a dead genre. The current form of them is based strictly on addiction. They are zero fun compared to what they used to be, or any other current genre. You are wasting your time still playing them in this state.
In Everquest you could make your character as strong as 5-10-15 other players if you put enough time and gear onto him. It made characters as individuals strong because that is the type of game it was.

If this game allowed such a thing, where individualism and competition (and entitlement) are King. Do you still think NA would suck?

I agree, they are not really that fun. I mostly just play for the RP.

When a game puts a cap on how strong your character can be, then its not a game made for the NA culture. Not many games these days allow that kind of play anymore. So, guess what? NA is usually the worst in everything.

Reading the book is well and good, but you still have never driven. Learning to drive by actually driving is miles better than reading the book.

Same thing here, one could watch/read a guide till their eyes bleed, they still haven't done the content.

In other words, sucking it up and doing the content is much MUCH more effective than reading some guide/video that may not even be current any more.
This is part of the problem with NA servers. People who legitimately are so delusional they believe this BS.

Yea, "reading" a guide doesn't help you... when you don't know how to read. When I used to lead a static on Gilga, we would watch videos and it would always astound me how little people absorbed from what they watched. It was in one ear, out the other.

Learn how to properly analyze a fight. Then, watching videos might be helpful to you. Don't just disregard an incredibly important part of the learning process because you don't know how to utilize it effectively.

I played EQ1 from launch, you could maybe be stronger than other players in token duels, but in PvE it was all cooperation. No queues, no transfers, no name changes and years to level up fully. So getting blacklisted was true death to a player.

Westerners REQUIRE penalties to behave. Everyone's Rambo here. So sad.

It was the same case in Starwars Galaxies/Everquest II as well. I mean you really REALLY got punished if you didn't have friends.

This game, you can level 1-60 and never talk to a single person.

You couldn't get past level 10 without forming a party yourself and working with other people. You had to find/ask crafters to make you armor so you can survive the first dungeon.

it's all the matter of attitude.
it doesn't matter what method is employed if the attitude doesn't change.
    want an example?
the JP and NA community in FF14 despite both having queues.

the problem is that we have entirely different cultures and that shapes our mentality.

Case and point: People selling runs. Yes it puts money in your pockets but if the old adage of "feeding a man a fish instead or teaching him" is true then they basically screwed over themselves in the long run and im starting to see it on my server. People quitting statics and the not being able to find a replacement due to lack of "qualified" players. While there are other examples of the community not wanting to help people, be it limited play time, tired of old content, etc, it all boils down to "if there is nothing in it for me then I don't want any part of it". Sad but true.

Some sellers still help if a group's up, but if it's a party that they form with the express intent to sell a run then of course it's gonna be a sell. It's not their responsibility to make learning groups for other players, and them making their own groups do not keep people from making learning parties.

Who cares at this point, the end game community rests on a few servers now. 3.0 caused huge migrations and the end game community is in shambles on most servers. Bad players don't deserve an ounce of my time when I have barely any motivation to log in anymore.

I will be more than happy to put in the effort once SE makes the end game deeper, more compelling, and worth fostering a community for. What's the point of creating such a strong end game community? For DF and Hunts? The only content requiring any intense coordination is savage and a static will serve you much better than trying to pug your way through a4s. It's a pretty pointless video for a game that is on the shallow side.

Except when learning to drive, you do read quite a bit on it, and maybe watch a few videos and see other people doing it all prior to doing it yourself, the same applies here. I can't tell you the amount reading a guide, and then watching a video has helped me understand a fight whereas I'd have no clue what to do. Experience helped my perfect my play, but without the prior knowledge it would have taken me significantly longer to learn fights. To say it's much more effective is utter crap, they both play a huge role in learning a fight. If someone isn't going to a watch a video before joining my group (if the content is over a few days at all and the content is actually difficult), they're not joining my group at all.
