Or, now follow me on this, we haven't seen the last of the Heavensward story. There's also Void Ark to provide a potential link to what happened. We've got a whole year or two to find out what happened up there and maybe even discover that, gasp, the Allag are alive and well... on the Moon. Azys Lla could very well be to the Allag what Battleship Island was to the Japanese.

I don't understand what purpose for Azys Lla either. I only interest the story of my Accompaniment Node minion lol.

That warring triad is a mystery. Are they the source of power that fuels the whole place? If they break free / die or whatever won't make the whole place fall down destroying it? Or it just a huge magical experimental flying lab / Alcatraz of some sort?
    consider the real world.
with so many nukes flying around to destroy the world more than once.
disappearing civilization doesn't seem so unlikely now does it.

When the ones who are making the nukes are the ones destroyed, it starts to make less sense. For none of them to survive too? It's just that "Oh, there was once an ancient and great civilization here that are far more advanced than even people thousands of years ahead of them, but now they're gone" cliche. It's been used so many times in so many forms of media that I've grown a distaste for it.

I think the problem is that while we know they did survive, and the CT ending more or less confirms that they stuck together after and intended to restore the "better" aspects of their society, revelations since have confirmed that enough of their tech was still operational at the time to the point that they realistically shouldn't have simply vanished without a trace afterwards.

So either they decided they were better off without technology, in which case "the Ancients' wish" from the end CT makes zero sense (since they still wanted their tech to be used), or the story we were told based on firsthand experiential memories passed down from the surviving leader at the time of the fourth calamity left out more than a few crucial details.

The only explanations I can think of all shine a really negative light on stuff we're told we should be okay with. Ugh, thinking about this makes me ill. I'm going to bed.

The Allagan Empire did not literally "vanish." It died out slowly. This doesn't mean all its inhabitants went poof like vapor. The empire is a cumulative term for an entity made of many different people. When an empire dies, the people persist on without it. This was thousands of years ago. Allagans weren't some separate race, it was just a name to refer to the people within the Empire's dominion who accepted it.

After Allag fell, the people lived out their lives until their deaths. Family lines still continued. In fact a good majority of people on Hydaelyn today probably can trace back an ancestor in Allag. The empire fell (as in, their dominion), not the survivors.

Azys Lla was just an Allag R&D Facility with some museaums and training grounds. If you pay attemtion you'll notice multiple times that it warns violations of Azys Lla ToS may result in death. The place wasn't a city it was air born to keep rouge Chimeric Beasts and bio-wepons from Excaping.

As for the civilization, it fell apart after a LONG period of rebellion and unrest so survivors may have decided they were better off with out the old empires technology. Especially after learning it caused the Earthquake that likly took thousands of civilian lives.

Thoradan was playing the asceians, waiting for the right moment to destroy them. He wanted to rule alone. I understood that the asceians where the ones that wanted to go to the warring triad/ Azys Lla, an Thoradin was just playing along.

As for CT and Azys Lla.... Fenral, I think your reading way more into CT with to little information. We don't know how fast the Allagns fell, or if they had already split it or more then one faction in their civil war, etc. We don't know how well the clones memories worked, or what memories they where encoded with... Etc.

I don't think you'll see the ending or explanation you want, though. Gra fulfilled his story role, as far as I can tell. That doesn't mean CT no longer makes sense.

Azys Lla is Heavenward's answer to Northern Thanalan, the zone where the story reached a climax, and one which is different form the endgame hub (in this case, Idylshire)
