What purpose did the isle Azys La serve? Main Storyline Spoiler.

I am curious at what reasoning the arch bishop had for going to Azys La? It seemed that they was able to utilize the power of the prayer of its citizens when the Heaven's Ward was able to transform already so why did they have to goto the isle just to transform Thordan into The god King Thordan? They had the focus of the prayer of it's people along with the coffin of the first Azure Dragoon.

As a primal, you can never have enough strength. Thordan was planning to siphon the power of the Warring Triad, the 3 imprisoned eikons depicted on the flagship, to basically get a lot of power right off the bat, enough to affect things on a massive scale and force a new ruling order/world peace that way.

Such a powerful primal...would easily become a problem worse than bahamut.

More power from the Warring Triad. Because a thousand years of prayer and the eye of nigh-infinite aether wasn't enough.

It's near infinite. You had to use up all of the aether stored in one eye to permanently kill off one of the Ascians.

Some parts of the Lore and MSQ are confusing or not clear to me. The Azys La structure seem monumental and phenomenal. How can a civilization so advanced disappear without a trace. They could remain on Azys La and survive. If Azys La is intact it means the people on it could survive too just like the mobs living there. That place is just weird as it is. It looks so alien ish. That warring triad is a mystery. Are they the source of power that fuels the whole place? If they break free / die or whatever won't make the whole place fall down destroying it? Or it just a huge magical experimental flying lab / Alcatraz of some sort?

Infinite in regards to mortal thinking. It's like how people STILL can't wrap their heads around an Earth older than 10,000 years (yes, there really are people out there that think that way). Nidhogg's power likely has it's limits, but heck if the Azure Dragoon can fathom it without making a d100 sanity check. I mean, there's a living elder dragon imprisoned in Azys Lla but the Allag still went and enslaved three primals to power their flagship despite having free access to an elder dragon.

Of course it is also a cautionary tale. Their advancement was so much that the empire stagnated, one wonders if the empire that made space travel to fly an imprisoned dragon to the stars was the same as the weakened one that sank the crystal tower. Or what others would do given their advancements.

Those tomestones might one day be something that changes the world drastically...

What is the official lore on the Warring Triad? Obviously they are called eikons so do they have some origin in the FF games like the crystal tower and its bosses were from FF3? Just curious it's all very interesting..

    FF VI

The Warring Triad (三闘神, Santōshin?, lit. Three Warring Gods), also known as the Statues and Goddesses, are, according to legend, collectively the gods of magic and the beings that created the espers in Final Fantasy VI. They are named Demon, Fiend, and Goddess.
