Exactly. The dudes look tough and all, and they're a tad closer due to their massive horns and whatnot, but they're hardly "beastial". Ghastly seems to really like this idea of the Au Ra being tough and beast like, but also says the girl's are super feminine and look really cutesy, but that doesn't invalidate

Yep, and that's another issue with the Viera, they either remove part of what makes them somewhat unique looking (Their weird feet and heels and their long nails/fingers) or hey forgo on their "no digitigrade feet" rule to make modified versions of foot gear that look all Viera-esque. Given the concept art, it would seem like they wanted to retain the weird feet, but then were reminded of the burder of having to remodel every foot gear in game (That gets a bit funny when they didn't even do that for the Au Ra and the Evening Star set. Same old weird tailboner that the Miqo'te have).

Seriously though, a second expansion is coming - SE stated they're already working on it (it's rumoured to be featuring Ala Mhigo, as that is the natural location to go to being the last citystate in Eorzea yet visited). Besides, if FFXI could be kept going for over a decade despite hemorrhaging players then ARR is no danger of being shut down.

Don't bother, people say this about every MMO. WoW? Before every expansion pack people scream the game is dying and won't survive another expansion, it's soon to be 11 years old. With FFXIV's tiny development team, awful servers and cash shop, I think they can more than fund the development team for a long time to come.

so a franchise wanting to capitalize on their own ip is ' too much? '. why do viera in particular have to be a side note? moogles have a pretty big role and they're from previous titles. are they ' too much '? are biggs, wedge, jessie, and cid too much? what ab a decent portion of the weapons, gear, and items? the gold saucer? triple triad? the opening music on the start screen? chocobos? do you constantly discard your potions, ethers, hi-potions, megalixers and other buffs because they're ' unoriginal ' ?

the ' just more of the same ' argument is genuinely baffling.

extensive speculation about them in regards to where they relate to eorzean lore seems mostly pointless. i can only go off of what was in shown in the concept art and that tells me nothing but a speculated appearance. even if that was all i had to go from though, there are male viera pictured. y-you don't think, that the staff m-may have, thought about this do you?

we can't seem to move past this point and it's sort of ridiculous.

in xii, since that's my favorite incarnation of them, and that's what i'll continue to reference to, they seem pretty serious and stoic. the races do have their own personalities despite the ways they may look. how can you complain about gender and roles being stale but use the same gauge on the cause you oppose out of convenience? ' not judging things by how they appear' was one of the lessons of meeting viera, iirc ( perhaps in ffta where they are again treated as examples of ' strong female characters '? ) . i mean, you can keep talking about how they were made to cater to a certain group but i didn't just look at them as super feminine and so therefore easy to dismiss.

you're the second person to try to come in and imply that viera would only feed the pervs when literally all the other races do that now and then some. whether or not this game has issues with gender expression ( it definitely does ) those things will and do still exist whether the bunnykind make their debut or not. really starting to think you're just trolling, tbh : s some subsection of the fandom doesn't represent the whole and i don't appreciate being lumped in with those people, especially after i've been pretty clear about why i think they should be included.

now, this is a genuine question: are there any canonical non pretty playable characters with substantial roles in final fantasy? ( that's aren't bangaa ) because if that's what you're having issue with than i don't think you get how SE makes deez yens. i don't even disagree about the dimorphism thing, i've mentioned it before, but i also understand who made this game and how marketing works.

bishoujo and bishounen pay the bills. those are the breaks. i sort of wonder how the rest of the world would have to recalibrate itself to the sudden influx of big, hairy, beastly, and scary looking people compared to everyone else though? how wouldn't the opposite end of the spectrum not be jarring to what we have now?

i can't say i can extend sympathies to a person whose tired of hearing ab viera posting in a viera thread, lol. a couple of upstarts come and think their wants are more ' worthy ' than the rest, and ' need to be heard ' and wonder why others may have taken offense? i haven't, i just don't appreciate the obvious light trolling and derailing.
this issue may be old and grating to you, but this has been a long time request, that was made before you, me, this thread, this forum or this game and as long as there are fans who want it, we're going to keep speaking about it.

i brought up the suggestion to agree to disagree because it was beginning to feel as if i was having the same conversation over and over.

As much as I would like to be a Viera, I rather their beautiful creation not be destroyed from XIV's "lack of assets." XIV would do the race such an injustice.
