    My point was that it only provides an illusion of choice and customization, when everyone has to meld the same way it's not customization, it's just extra stats to help make content a little easier. Then there is also the concern that they start balancing around people having materia, then there is no choice but to do it once again.

    Even with just one per item, I'll be hoerding Det V materia to make up for all the points I'm losing to Skill Speed. That way I never have to chose between Crit, Det, and SkS again.

    I'll actually be able to make a BiS stat for once.

    illusion? i think not, because the 3 secondary status works differently each other

    they just need to adjust the number so no status is clearly better than other.

    the problem for status customization in this game is everything is so straight and obvious, so people can straight doing calculation without really trying

    monster only have attack and defense and HP, how they can make a customization based on that three basic status?

    without overhaul and addition of monster (and player) status and system, customization is still long journey. but hey, at least they take the first step.

    Oh well.
    You can farm your own materia like I did on my relic, and you can go explore the islands + spiritbond like SE already stated there, so it will be easier to farm materias.

    I'd like more variety of materias, that's my actual concern :/

    Unless 3.2 or beyond adds new types of materia, which is entirely possible. However seeing as we know nothing about this feature other than the fact that they're just adding materia slots to tome / raid gear it seems far too early for the all the negativity being thrown around towards a feature that could quite literally be a game changer on a fundamental level when it comes to gearing and itemization.

    Whats to stop them from adding materia with unique stats or stat modifiers to compliment this system as someone else mentioned?

    This could very well eventually lead to the return of job specific stats but it has to start somewhere for players to get used to it.

    yes, but i believe they will do something more than that for the patch. the patch is still have a long time to arrive, as we not even in 3.1 yet.

    given this materia change system is one feature they choose to be previewed even before 3.1 hit, lets assume the patch 3.2 will focused and revolve around this new system, and i hope the new secondary status for monster and player is part of their plan.
