Even my default player inventory, I don't care about expanding... What I do care about expanding? The Armoury Chest, since that is where my Gear Sets reside, and being a PvPer means I could effectively double my number of combat Gear Sets. The Armoury Chest currently has 25 spaces, I have 3 Gathering Classes, 8 Crafting Classes, 13 Combat Classes. That comes to me using up 24/25, throw in PvP sets and I've only room for 1.

The only thing I need the developers to do, is to double the size of my Armoury Chest. That's it. The 100 inventory spaces I have is perfectly fine by me, as would the Retainer space be, had we been given something like a Glamour Log... Wouldn't a Glamour Log even be simpler to introduce? A Glamour Log just needs to store visual data, literally just the Glamour for any gear. Meanwhile, storing the actual gear, you have to store its stats, Durability, Spiritbond data, potentially any materia... That seems like more data to store to me... Heck, look at the Crafting Log, you could literally piggy-back a Glamour Log off that, just say "After you make this once, you always have that option available for a Glamour", only applies to crafted gear, of course, but that is better than me bogging down my inventory with stuff like Glacial Coats, which already exist in a Log...

Then, of course, comes Glamour Prisms... OK SE, you are apparently unable to fix inventories... Fine, can I ask you why you decided to give us thirty five varieties of Glamour Prism, then? Aren't things bad enough, without you going; "You need this specific Glamour Prism in order to cast this Glamour, and a completely different Glamour Prism to cast that one!", when Glamours should effectively be no different than Self-Repairs? I carry one stack of Grade 6 Dark Matter on my character, and that covers all repairs. Even if gear can be repaired with Grade 2 Dark Matter, I can use Grade 6 Dark Matter all the same, similar system for Materia Melding, come to think of it. That is how Glamour Prisms should function. If I want to casually change Glamours, I should be able to do so without bloating my inventory with all the gear and various Prism types... Instead, it's absolutely insane to expect me to carry 35 different types of Prisms around in case I want to change Glamour, so I don't. Instead, casting a Glamour is something I have to plan out, I have to check what Prisms I need, then get those Prisms and cast it. I cannot, for example, effectively go "In Coerthas I want to wear the Glacial Coat, but in Costa del Sol, I want to wear a swimsuit", and just cast Glamours when I arrive in such zones. I have to stop and work out what I need to get to cast a Glamour... The system is complete and utter pants, please fix this, if nothing else...
Too bad the Glamour system isnt like the style lock in FFXI. You just choose the gear you want portrayed on your toon and your good to go, the gear just needs to be in your inventory/mog wardrobe. No need for Glamour prisms and etc. Heck even WoW's "Glamour" (wardrobe) is better.

Let's keep complaining, if we don't they won't search for a solution. If we do, they may think about it, fail, but maybe find a solution.

    A: PS3 limitations on data.
B: Certain aspects of the servers were made using old mmo ideas (character based rather than account based, no cross shard play outside of random dungeons), so functions available in games such as GW2 are not compatible.
C: Too much data is permanently attached to the character itself, and gets moved with the character whenever you move, whether it be a step forward or a jump to duty finder servers.
D: There are more pieces of gear, or variations on similar gear, in FFXIV than in a majority of the games that HAVE such features.

The only solution I can think of, is if they were to implement glamour servers, much like duty servers or character creation servers, where all of our glamour data would be saved. It would only be accessible when we went there with our characters, so we wouldn't be putting a strain on loading during normal play. I believe that is how "void storage" works in World of Warcraft, although the size of that service is far smaller than what needs to be implemented in FFIXV.

And the only way this would be implemented is if SE gave more money to Yoshida's staff for its implementation. Queue the same problem we currently have with not enough housing servers. At least with housing, we know the FFXIV team is pressuring management to give them more resources, as the jabbing comments to SE's president during the Anniversary live stream indicated.

The Guild Wars 2 engine is completely different. I also stopped playing that game when I got to the pay wall on bag space.

But you don't have to spend a single dollar on GW2 if you don't want to. Buy your gems with in-game gold and you're set.

We're basically hitting a paywall on our inventory space in this game too. Only difference is we don't have the option to spend in-game money to increase our inventory, and the developers won't do anything to increase it because it's too lucrative to jsut expect us to pay them to fix the issues they created.

This is pretty disappointing considering I have 2 accounts with all crafts/gathers on max and a third that is approaching the same. This inventory data excuse is getting old and fast.... REALLY REALLY FAST. Im tired of the excuses, they should be looking into options to fix it. Period..

They have said several times its due to server and game engine constraints. While that's not really an answer I like it does explain why its not a simple fix. Changing server architecture or core aspects of the game engine is a pretty major thing. Its like screwing with the foundations on a building that's already built. Its costly, time consuming and if you screw up even a little it can wreck everything else.

Considering the bulk of the dev team is always focused on trying to pump out new content, the resources dedicated to such a problem are probably in the same basket as the API work. Generally low priority.

Do you have any actual proof to back up that allegation or are you just spouting conspiracy theories?

"Expanding your inventory would put too much strain on the servers!"

    "Rent retainers from us, please."

Doesn't really take conspiracy to see the connection there.
