Does FFXIV ARR provide the best MMORPG experience?

FFxiv story might not be extremely engaging for some people, but it is very well written for a game. Game writers for FFXIV did a great job (my props also go to english writers/editors who did an amazing job tranlsating it so it feels genuine).

Agreed, particularly from an MMO standpoint there is a LOT of story and lore to be had in this game. That the English localization team put in so much effort to make things look good and also give us kickass hilarious FATE names just adds to it all.

People have been saying no, but I really have to wonder what current MMO tops FFXIV? To answer your question, yes, I do believe FFXIV to be the best MMO on the market as of yet. It has something for everyone, and that's what I love about it. They could do to improve a lot of things, but so could every other MMO. A solid 9.5/10 for me, would be a 10 but I had to bump it down because Witcher 3 is something else.

Currently FFXIV does provide the best MMORPG experience. All it takes is viewing various threads on the forums to see how the old, outdated, WoW has let their playerbase down and is no longer providing the experience that the game was providing at it's peak, and to make matters worse WoW has very poor story telling, whereas with FFXIV, we have a very engaging, in depth, well written story, well balanced jobs, a great economy, the ability to be any job on one character, tons of options for leveling, tons of options for glamour, great communication options in game, a very dedicated dev team that provide us with new content on a pretty consistent once every 3 month basis, we have an indepth housing system, airship crafting, the chocobo companion system, the Gold Saucer, Triple Triad, Chocobo Breeding, Chocobo Racing, a minion battle system will be added soon (Lord of Vermillion?), an in game marriage system, gorgeous graphics, cross platform play between 3 different systems, and I'm sure there are a lot of other positives that I haven't even mentioned.

I don't believe that there is any other MMO on the market today that even holds a candle to what FFXIV has to offer. However, the OP has presented a question which can only be answered by opinion. Even though I have my opinion that all of the things I mentioned are great, and other MMOs can't compare, who is to say that my opinion, or anyone else's opinion is a definitive answer to the question. Even when relying on major video game rating sites, or video game magazines for ratings, you're only going to get someone's opinion. ( ~.ø)b

Whilst there is more they could do with this game it's solid, lots to do and has a dev team who really do seem to care.

And honestly, if you prefer the subscription model it's either this or WoW (which I've never played), so many other MMOs may offer subs as an option but are, invariably, compromised by their cash shops/F2P options.

FFXIV also sets a high bar in terms of quality, I've seen MMOs where every content update brings a slew of bugs or resurrects previous bugs that were supposed to have been fixed. Those who criticise are told all these bugs can't be helped, these things happen then FFXIV comes along with larger content updates and relatively few bugs.

Good experience, but not the best. Seeing as how I have a lot of time put into:

- DC Universe Online
- Elder Scrolls Online
- Final Fantasy XI
- Final Fantasy XIV
- Onigiri
- Neverwinter

...the BEST goes to "Final Fantasy XI".

Not even close.

At this point I'd probably argue that WoW, Rift, and Tera offer the all-around best MMO experience. Aion is in there too if you can deal with the extreme longevity of it. This game's been a very long time without an update, the content that's there is small in amount, and the combat is very shallow compared to other games. I do like the story mode aspect, but the linearity of it is stifling, and the world isn't very in-depth in a lot of places.

Just my opinion, but yeah. This game is young and it has a ways to go.

Ask me again in 6 months lol. While i find the game to be fun, I can't deny that I'm not having as much fun as I did in ARR. I feel like the game is starting to fizzle already, mainly because a lot of people are finding the game to be either too easy or too difficult for their liking with very little in between. ARR's difficulty curve was lightyears better than HW so far.

I liked Rift when it came out then went f2p, I liked SWTOR when it came out then it went f2p, I liked Tera... well I never like Tera I have a distaste for Korean MMO's as they all look basically the same with slightly different mechanics. So for me FFXIV is the best MMO out there that's not to say it doesn't have problems but the dev team actually listen which should make it a better game given time.
