I don't see a problem with this. Just make it Allagan and you've solved the problemWould those be visible when on the ground, or do flaps open on top of, and in the side of, the shell to reveal the air-bladder and rockets when the Tortoise takes to the air? In my mind's eye, I have a mental image of Bugs Bunny riding this poor thing and then it jumps to fly, and the segments of the shell fold out to reveal tiny jet engines on the side, and then a huge gas bladder (bigger than should be possible) emerges from the top of the shell carrying Bugs high into the air...
Allagantoise.
The exact opposite. Right before I said your snipped quote, I asked for someone to explain to me why it made sense for a horse to fly and not a wolf. I was answered with "mythos" of a fake creature and ridicule. I expected the ridicule, but didn't actually believe people validated a horse flying with a word that quite literally means "not real"....
OK. So basically, because that "ADS-type" monster in FFIX also hovered it sets precedence that an ADS in FFXIV should be able to fly? But Fenrir flew in FFXI and we were told "this isn't XI"... ADS mounts already did in FFXIV exactly what they do in FFXIV; they hover. This is being changed for them to change elevation. Sorry, I'm just not buying your reasoning any longer after this.
But I snipped your response and left the only part of it I believed to be relevant. It seems the way I worded my initial statement makes you assume that because "I have a personal attachment to this mount, I believe it should be able to fly also regardless of whether or not it makes sense". Sound accurate? I won't deny that I really love my Fenrir mount. My initial response stems more from a culmination of getting passed over, though. The primal mounts didn't have theme songs when Fenrir was released. There is no pet action bar for Fenrir. And obviously, Fenrir can't fly.
Everyone else got "exactly what they were going to get" when they got all these other mounts that didn't have these things? Do you think I'm actually wrong for thinking that one of the rarest mounts in the game should keep getting passed over because "I got what I came for??". If so, I guess we will just disagree.
If something as non-sensical as an ADS being able to fully submerge underwater is implemented then...yeah, why not? Kirin didn't have wings in 2.0; it just... grew them?? And if that's the case, can you explain to me why Fenrir couldn't also grow them??
That's awesome that you included Fenrir with Behemoth and Goobbue mounts though, which are far more common. It wasn't the point to just make everything fly.
.......
Thank you.
Well no, it wouldn't be able to be submerged in water because it would likely end up dead unless the Allagans have discovered how to waterproof technology, while that wouldn't surprise me, I doubt SE would do that. The ADS does make sense for flying, it can already hover, Kirin is a magical creature while Fenrir is just a hoarhound, nothing more, nothing less.
And what does being rare or common have to do with making a mount fly? It'll fly if it makes sense, not because it's rare.Following the rise of Ishgard, hoarhounds all but disappeared from the Coerthas highlands. However, the shift in climate caused by the Calamity has seen the legendary beasts descend from their mountain dens once more.
I guess my sarcasm emoticon is too subtle. It was mostly a joke, but I honestly don't care that you took it seriously. But if you really want to go there there's a whole zone of Allag technology just flying/floating. The developers feel like the ADS mount should fly too apparently.
This is really what this is all about, isn't it? You feel entitled for it to do more than it was meant to do.I won't deny that I really love my Fenrir mount... one of the rarest mounts in the game...
Also have to remember these mounts needed animations added to allow them to fly. They do not have an unlimited amount of resources to add for flying mounts. I am sure some of these ones named were extremely easy. Other ones because they have mounts coming down the line or it allows them to add more of that type later. Also by not doing certain mounts it prevents all the X type of mount people from asking as well.
They could just go with the lag type animation where nothing moves and it looks like you are moving on a cardboard cutout. That would take no resources, but would you really be happy with that?
Just give them all Nyan Cat's magical poptart and call it a day. Poof! Everything can fly now.
FOR THE LAST TIME I AM NOT A MOUNT!!!haha
Seriously though, I am a little surprised magitek armour is being given flight capability, as it was never designed for flight (flying Garlean machina are Juggernauts and those fighter-like 'magitek bits) - but as players have been requesting it, SE are only trying to please everyone. As long as it doesn't fly like it's on rails like the manacutter.....
And we are back to this, what seems to be the cyclical argument.
Why does it make sense for you for Kirin to fly?
If your answer has anything to do with them being able to in previous games or anything along those lines just, please....don't. This is quite clearly a mythical lion in FFXIV, and one which never had wings prior to whatever ridiculous reason is given.Ask any man in Othard who rules the realm of beasts, and you will receive the same answer-Kirin. It is believed that the lion-like creature has walked the eastern lands for over a thousand years and will only answer the call of a hero it has deemed worthy.
If the argument here is "One mount which doesn't normally fly can, THEREFORE MY FAVORITE MOUNT SHOULD BE ABLE TO FLY", then no. That's not how logic works.
