Wake up people do you think they were really going to reserve housing for people who have stopped playing the game? Housing shouldn't be something that one owns forever. The only thing that surprises me is the somewhat short timer of 45 days. I would have thought it would have been longer.

We're gonna lose our houses after a short amount of time - only 45days? Even for people who own a house not as a guild?!
Why not just add more housing areas? >_>
They could spin the map again at 90° and its a 3th one!

Thought it was a dumb idea when they first discussed it, and I still think it's a dumb idea now. That they took this long to add a nearly identical system which addressed none of people's concerns from the first time around, and they've let everyone go this long without adding new housing space, is pretty dumb too. This does nothing but placate people ravenous for housing at the expense of those who have it. I appreciate that you get 80% of the plot value back at the very least, but as mentioned earlier in this thread, by the time you fully furnish a house there's a good chance some of the items you have in it will be worth more than that.

Ultimately the gil is something that comes and goes, my real concern is that if a player does need to unsub for a while the space is still going to be highly limited upon his/her return. This doesn't make the system more accessible to players as a whole, but rather shifts ownership from one incredibly small subset to another over a lengthy period of time. I'd be alright with this system if neighborhood housing was a premium you were more or less paying for so that you can surround yourself with a populated and active housing community, while all players had permanent private instances on the side where everyone could have a house. As it stands though I really don't think it fixes anything about how limited the system itself is.

It's not much for me to log in and keep my house, so I'm not saying this as though I'm concerned about losing my house. I just genuinely think it's a lame band-aid.

The timer seems a bit short to me. Personally I would have thought it would have been closer to 90 days or twice what they've announced. But many housing wards are almost deserted. It'll be interesting to see how many plots actually free up when the timer kicks in.

- Three month content cycle, (when they're not taking holidays.)
- Content lasts a month at best, (unless you're into no-life grinding.)
- Game forces you to sub at least another month, or you lose your housing plot.

Have I read the lodestone wrong? Am I missing something? They could just open up more plots... but no, they had to turn it into a bribery mechanism instead?

I agree, the 45 day timer is too short. In one of the many threads discussing this, we felt that 6 months was ideal and 3 months was reasonable. 45 days means that if a soldier gets deployed overseas for a two month TDY, they're gonna have to have someone else log into their account to keep their house, for example.

I kind of agree... I do think this is a required addition, given the current Housing system, but seeing as this is effectively the same plan as before, plus ten days... I think they perhaps should have at least waited until new Wards were ready...

This is perhaps a bitter pill for some, or just rather lame for others, but I think it would have gone down a lot better if step one was immediately followed by step two...

I also certainly hope that that 45 day timer is just an initial thing... It makes sense to have a relatively short timer up front, to free up the plots which have long since been abandoned, but in the long run 90 days seems much more reasonable... Hope they'll at least consider changing it in future, if the outcry from "You just added 10 days!" isn't enough for them to flip flop again...

This is mostly why I agree with this system, though I will admit it has it's problems... A 45 day timer? That's good for getting people like this their plots as soon as possible, in the long run, not so much. That I think needs to be addressed, just like the fact that so many plots are effectively owned by nobody, those plots do need to be cleared up...

I'm surprised they have not coupled a sell back option with this for those that would want to get rid of their personal housing, but didn't want to lose their investment.
