The PS3 release of this game is the only thing we can really count on to boost the population, IMO they should wait to release it with a full expansion pack.

I believe this change was made to support the casual player. Since there isn't much content, and battle and other things in general still 'need a lot of work', this will at least give someone who does actually login something to do, for free, without having to earn materials or shards. This is effectively a sort of pseudo content addition, even though its not really new content.

I play this game every day, I do 16 leves every cycle, I am the closet thing to a hardcore player you can be and have a job. I can barely keep up with the current leve cycle.

This change was made so we who play the game every day do not have to do leves every day just to keep up. It is an attempt to give us the opportunity to experience other content without feeling like we are loosing out on our SP bonuses.

"Casual" players do not give a crap if they miss a leve. They do not care how long the cycle is or how many leves they get because every time they log in they have some.

To say this change is in any way geared toward the people who have no drive to finish all their leves all the time is just asinine.

Yes...Yes...and more yes. I believe they should push back release of PS3 until an expansion can be released with it. I know they don't want PS3 people to be that far behind, but with XI ps2 people in NA created a good enough population boom and so did xbox 360, that new people had other new people to play with. So my thing is releasing the ps3 version with no expansion may just create the same bore we have, where we really have done all the core content the game has to offer, if they release with an expansion, older players could do the expansion content while new players level up and then the new players create bonds with each other and go do the content together also. Not saying that new people can't play with old people, but its nice if the new people have enough of a population so they don't have to depend on the older players.


I just rebought FFX on ps2 for my ps3 since i have backwards compatible 80gig one from old school days. Gamestop was doing a buy 2 get 2 half off or something. So bought FFX, FFX-2, DQVIII, Monster Rancher 4, and my bf got legaia 2. I want a redone version, but I don't think the cinematic cut scenes can get much better then they were in X, only thing they can improve is main graphics, battle graphics, and hopefully give me camera controls. The whole "i walked back 1 step and my camera shifted" was so annoying then, and is still annoying now.

Perhaps the thread should be remade as "The leve system killed FFXIV" because thats really what I think, it just occurred to me that this change must be as a result of trying to appeal to the console audience.

leves are being taken away as central content. thy may still fell like the main content cause the other content is not in the game yet. your statements are foolish.

i'm thinking same thing about having a expansion for ps3 launch ...without there will be nothing for most players that are playing right now for one, 2 it's not like they caped lowbie content, everything we have now and will have will probably not take much to run threw, on top of that all the how to do's will be on the net for them to copy a winning strat.

adding a few new classes so that all of us can be playing and grinding with the new players is probably best way to go, also adding new missions and things that we can still roll threw together would be good as well. on top that i don't think everyone waiting for p2p will be happy without a expansion. if they add like 1-2 new things that i can be done with in a month then i don't think i would even pay my first month. it might seem like alot to do if u'r rank 1 but it's not at all. if 100k ps3 come, i'm betting that many pc'ers won't come back at all and we just at same spot we been at. expansion will bring them all back to see and play ...and probably have enough things to enjoy and stay.

@ OP - > hmmm, i play like 14 or 15 hours a day 2-3 days a week... at LEAST, yet i play the same way when i play on my PS3 or 360 games... i think your friends that play here and there on their consoles just aren't hardcore gamers

say no all you want but it happened with 11 after SE stood up in their big boy pants and said FFXI would not go to xbox... (fast forward 2 years) FFXI is now on the xbox haha

They've said XIV won't go to 360 due to Microsoft saying no to an online game that doesn't need xbox live subscription to play.

Microsoft have a tendency to be quite stubborn with their decisions.
