why are minion drops so rare?

It's to keep people running the old content. Period. People like minions, people don't need to run Aery more than once. Toss in a minion so people go back to it ensuring people keep queuing for it to get new players through the story.

Though this could be solved by just adding an ARR roulette 15-50 and a Hard Roulette 51-59 in addition to Expert.

I suppose I should kick myself for spending millions of gil and hundreds of hours on the relic weapon too? They were rare for 5 months, and are going to be less rare now. That's what happens to everything in FFXIV without exception (well, there's time limited rewards but I don't believe that's the same case).

Without changes, there were a handful of 1% drop rate minions that would be cleaned out of the MB or up for sale for more than a large house. Nutkin comes to mind first, <5% chance to get a green map, then <5% chance for it to drop from that map.

Technically, minions like Gestahl are rare by comparison to others. This being because of the fact you need a 55+ FSH retainer and a lot of luck. Let's be honest here, not a lot of people would bother with FSH, much less end up having a FSH retainer over a miner/botanist or combat one. I managed to get the pet and have it up on the MB for a high price, just in case it turns out that I want it for the LoV content. Mind you, that was the only one out of all of my daily attempts since a week or so after early access HW. Even Assassin Fry is a PITA to get with better gear and high CUL desynth. That one though can be tried for so long as Gloom weather is around.

Yeah, you knew that the ilvl cap would raise. Sort of a false equivalency there. Also, if your going to reply, at least answer the question. Do you think there were any minions obtainable in game that were just too hard to get?

We don't know that minions would get a drop rate increase since there has never been a precedence. If anything, minions drop raters were nerfed in some dungeons. It's sad that this game is losing any worth while things to do. Why even try anymore... really? I could raid log all of heavenward and then just swoop in at the end of the xpax and collect all the handouts and freebies.

So, you don't want any long term goals associated with minions? The two examples you provided could be bought from the MB from a single day of gil farming. Do the rarest minions really need to be more accessible than a single day of gil farming?
