Claiming will be a bitch for NA or EU players when paired with JP groups.

If the system uses a force pop on the NMs, that will be just fine though. Or perhaps in the Ul'dah stronghold's case the end all goal for that could be a fight against Ifrit. Which I strongly hope will be instanced. There are ways that these strongholds can work and still be open, but they need to be laid out a certain way in order to have equal and fair competition.
They already announced Ifrit will be instanced.
