    Zhexos.

Seriously, let's talk. There is no shortage of tanks in the game, but tanks are in short supply in DF and Duty Roulette. Everyone knows all the reasons why a lot of players who level a tank job, don't use it in Duty Finder. The problem is that the responsibility and stress that part time (and many full-time) tanks face in dungeons through DF/DR are not worth the return for doing it. The Adventurer in need function is a great idea, but the rewards do not scale well, and are not attracting tanks to run things in DF/DR pick-up groups.

I think you need to revamp the rewards for the Adventurer in Need bonus, and I don't mean shower players in seals or gil. What might work well would be a unique token system, call the tokens favors. You're doing the community a favor by running content as the class in need, so Favors seems an appropriate name. The Favors should accumulate and be tradeable for specific mounts, minions, glamor items and/or special titles.

Using Tomes, seals and/or gil as the primary reward requires that either the reward is made considerably richer, or that it becomes obtainable multiple times making it exploitable. A token reward system (Favors) on the other hand is harder to exploit, and new items can be added over time as rewards - such as, but not limited to rare dyes, and old gear items no longer obtainable, but still in the game, such as a real metal armor set for casters (as a glamor).

The Adventurer in Need system as it stands works well, if more tanks were attracted to DF, Q times would fall, and healers and DPS might even see their names mentioned as the adventurer in need.

Please don't do this, as a tank in savage and a drg elsewhere this would actually make me tank elsewhere, and I really don't want that.

That's the whole point. To attract more tanks.

Yes. Thats a very valid point I also wanted to say for a long time now.

2k Gil as bonus? On my 2 active played chars I do have together around 13kk Gil. Compared to others it is not much. But enough to let me think about "How should a 2k Gil bonus attract me to queue up?". I generate way more gil within less than 30 seconds by gathering. Even my retainers generate more Gil by ventures without any own effort by me.

Company Seals? I get more by exchanging all that loot I do get during a single instance run.

I agree with this 100%. However, as a tank class that plays in DF, I find myself not doing that anymore. Not because of the reward from need, it's because of the lack of flat out disrespectful and painful people that play that are in it. People pulling mobs before tanks get there, actually pulling other mobs when your healer has more than enough to handle, they make it worse. Bad players, not ignorant ones - bad players. They make us not want to queue for that mess that handle groups like dumpster runoff in a gutter. Ignorant players I can handle, as they usually want to know fights and do what they can to improve their class. The bad players just succeed at disgusting failure.
I am by no means any kind of elitist. I do my daily dungeons and find myself just logging in less to do DF. Tanking is frustrating enough at times and it takes good tanks to know how to do it well. It takes just one schmuck though to ruin everyone's experience and that is more prevalent in DF.

Economy of DF Might Be A Problem

So whenever there are new tomes/ rewards everyone sees queue times drop.

Tanks get rewarded disproportionately however, and so tanks max out those tomes early (and healers too, but less so).

So what happens is, tanks no longer need to queue because they have everything.

DPS however were not getting bonuses, they still have a long way to go.

The knee-jerk reaction is always "give them more stuff and they'll come" but that only works if they need/want that stuff. Tanks don't after a month or so due to bonuses.

Instead of looking at how to get more tanks in DF, maybe look at ways to get *less* DPS in DF?

    Just a thought.

Not quite sure i follow this one... Tanks still get the same number of tomes per run as dps healers and still have the same weekly cap.
Unless your saying that the instant que times is a disproportional reward? Maybe they should cut tank tomes in half so we have to run twice as many times...

For the record, i am a DF tank and rarely have issues. It is the, only two dungeons, that are pathetically easy, that allow me to grind tomes for gear i don't really need, that has driven me away from DF lately.
