    i couldn't deny ur stand points but also very unwilling to agree with...

    i don't main tank, but i do play a lot of tank role outside of raid, mainly WAR. this doesnt mean i dont like the other two tanks, it's just that WAR is best among them atm and make things much easier for me.

    indeed it's too op, and also close to the best job in this game right now, turning down a notch sounds reasonable, but i dont like none of ur suggestions tho.

    WAR is definitely not OP. WAR is just representative of how well every job in the game should be designed but aren't. It's currently the only job in the game where everything works completely good and doesn't need any tweaks. They absolutely don't need a nerf, devs should take the work they did with WAR as an example to balance the other jobs.

    That's the usual forum logic 101. It's easier to ask for a nerf of a good class than to think about balanced improvements on lackluster classes

    How about taking it from someone who leveled all three tanks? Defense-wise it's not that bad. The job is built around active mitigation and some self-healing.

    Damage-wise the job is OP. Largely because tank DPS has not been kept on a leash and instead is used as an element to differentiate the tanks (instead of using mechanics and gameplay like games with actually balanced tanks do). Utility does play a role as well, since Storm's Path is universally useful and that slashing debuff is very useful as well.

    Sorry, but I'd rather PLD remain a traditional MMO tank instead of becoming a WAR clone. I mean hey, if you want to buff PLD DPS to WAR level while giving us our own version of Storm's Path plus a slashing debuff AND leaving the rest of our abilities and cooldowns alone, go for it. I do highly doubt something like that would happen, though.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    I actually have a sort of related question:

    If, instead of buffing WAR in 2.1, they nerfed PLD to 2.0 WAR levels, would everyone have been alright with that?

    I never said anything about making it a WAR clone. I was stating that the developpers have done a wonderful work in balancing WAR and they obviously didn't put the same efforts in balancing the other jobs (and I'm not even only speaking about the tanks). They should.

    Coil was a bit harder for tanks than Alexander I think. Being said, the fights were doable in the early weeks (minus Godtania) with a WAR if your healers and tanks were gods. This does assume of course the PLD is still a beast. 2x WAR wasn't really viable as the healers need the breathing space created by a PLD.

    So if 2.0 WAR was a tiny bit stronger (and PLD was at that level), I would be ok with it. Harder end-game content is always good with me.

    Just saying, coming from 1.XX where Warrior's were god's and gladiators were better tanks than paladins......don't nerf paladins again. I still wake up at nights imagining my 1.0 paladin was tanking ifrit.... and getting rekt.
