It's not about insecurity or putting down girls. It's about wanting to dress a male character like a man in a role that is stereotypically thought to be a "women's role" in RPGs. Unfortunately SE didn't get the memo where it says both genders play all roles, and they keep designing only masculine tank gear and feminine healer gear. Thankfully dps gear has a lot of variety in that regard.

Here's another group: men (and women) who don't give a rat's a$$, are secure in their identity, and don't need a video game to reinforce this through tired stereotypical tropes that appeal only to dudebros who never mentally graduated from 8th grade.

Which is very true, but it doesn't change the fact that there's very little variation in healer (and caster) gear. If nine out of ten outfits given to that role is a robe, a lot of people are going to get tired of it sooner or later. The robes might look very different from each other, but a robe is still a robe ^^;

I'm very secure. IRL I'm a gay guy with extremely "feminine", some would say, mannerisms. However I enjoy dressing in the sterotypical "male" outfits, because they're aesthetically pleasing to me. BTW you're stereotyping people with this comment. Lol

The problem isn't with the actual topic ("I'm sick of robes and don't like how they look") but with the way it was phrased ("I want my man to look like a real man and not like a girl"). They're both the same thing in this case but one is expressed in a respectful, neutral way and the other builds on a load of tired insecure put-downs that female players hear over and over and over again in the background whenever they attempt to play games until someone loses their temper and speaks up.

I think most of us agree at this point that we want more variety in healer attire and in the absence of any official response things are getting more heated. I love robes on my male character and even I'd like a few alternatives, or at least different models for healer and caster gear that aren't just white for healing/black for explosions by default. More coats, please.
