(IMO) NM killed SAVAGE or any desire to attempt to beat it,
To me that said that the OP was bummed out, burned out or tired of Alexander because of running Normal mode repeatedly and getting tired of it before attempting Savage.

Only 1 thing in the topic is affected by directly farming NM nonstop, and its not the main issue(story is)
Well, as you inferred earlier, I (and others) have said that Savage could have had the same story content, but the bosses could have used differnt mechanics, there could have been additional boss encounters, or slight map differences. It should be trivially easy for the Dev team to change up Savage mode to be a more satisfying challenge without gating story behind it. I'm sorry that they did choose the route of making the two modes essentially identical other than difficulty.

I am confused though, why would anyone hit their head of a difficult raid if not for the rewards? Are the rewards really that worthless? The 3.1 patch may add new content and gear, but will it raise the ilvl? 3.0 skyrocketed the ilvl in the space of 10 character levels, if they kept bumping the ilvl at that pace, we'd be looking at ilvl 500+ gear by the end of the HW expansion series. I was given to understand that ilvl growth beyond 3.0 would be at a more relaxed pace, in which case the gear from Alex savage should remain relevant for a long while?

Sorry, I'm not trying to be a pain, I'm just trying to understand. Everyone I know who persisted through Coil in a static started because of the gear and the challenge, not the story. So with Alexander, is the gear not sufficient? Is the challenge not there?

other games don't take half of my life, time, dedication, stress, patient, and money than FF so no, other games are more flexible and I have control over them as long as any game requires a collaboration of 2+ players you will never have such control

Ah, I didn't know that the new 24-man raid gear would be upgradeable to match the gear from Savage. That kind of goes against what they did with Coil and CT, where the CT gear was always 10ilvls behind Coil, and the relic/tome weapons couldn't match Coil weapons. I had (apparently incorrectly) assumed that they'd follow the same strategy with Void Ark vs Alex savage.

Oh I don't know doesn't Dark Souls have a reputation for being unforgiving? Many games have extra difficult content that enables special options but requires hours of head butting to beat, often you only beat it because finally the RNG smiled and you dodged a key attack at a key point in the fight. As I said above though, I thought that the Savage gear was literally the best gear in the game, and I wasn't anticipating the Void Ark gear being comparable, just as CT gear wasn't comparable to Coil gear. In those circumstances I was thinking that the best gear would be a reward worth the struggle. Sadly though it seems VA gear will be upgradeable to match Savage gear (damned stupid idea), So I can see the point being made about the gear incentive being weak.

A pity that they are not holding back those upgrade items, or initially adding them as extra drops in Alex savage, and then later adding them as drops in Void Ark.

Oh I just remembered the hunt fiasco when Oils and Sands became trivially easy to get through hunts and suddenly every server was awash in Zerg armies...they can definitely avoid that this time as well please.

Deleted my post because i forgot to quote you but you found it anyway lol.

nd yea idk, not really a big issue, it will have been 4+ months since savage has been out, which is usually when they let everyone play catchup

Also they currently ARE drops in savage.
Gobtwine, gobcoat etc, these are the things that make eso gear i210. These are currently drops in alex savage and they will be the items that drop in void ark

Making Savage mode more unique and delaying the upgrade items in Void Ark, but putting them in Savage would appear to be a way of rewarding raiders for running Savage though. Don't get me wrong, I still think people grinding gear in Normal and getting tired of it are making a choice, but at the same time I think it is only fair to make the savage version more rewarding in future to give raiders more of an incentive to play. changing up mechanics, adding Bosses and maybe even a bonus level - without altering the story elements would seem to help that, as would not prematurely allowing other gear to be upgrade to match the raid gear.

This can be taken either way, from the rest of his post, its safe to assume his desire was killed because he experienced the story already and has nothing to look forward to in savage as its all the exact same barring the fight itself and the increased ilvl . Which only takes one run of NM to accomplish.

As it stands, if we go by past patches, the gear in savage will only be a HELP not a must to beat anything in the next few future patches. I190 alex/i200 eso will take down void ark, which will most likely have drops to make i210 eso gear, so i would say yea, max gear in a game like this is strictly for "being the top" but not at all needed
