Well let's see... If you talk about it in public like you're doing right now, and at some point either you or the other person screw each other over the gil. Then yes, it's against the ToS and you might just get banned.

Is it reset Tuesday yet.
I question whether I'm playing a PvE game with PvP mixed in, or I am I playing a PfG.

What you could do is buy 5mil worth of stuff from mb you know sells well.
And then sell them back on your new server.
hope this helps

why not just buy items of value. Mats that are expensive etc. Then just sell them when you get there?
Edit: posted from the first page lol. Didn't see the identical post until too late.
I don't see this being punishable at all. You are free to give your Gil to whoever you want provided you don't get real money for it.
The actual problem is enforcement. Normally a GM can enforce a player-based agreement if it was written somewhere in chat in case one of the sides gets scammed. On this case... it'll be hard to do since you are talking about 4 Characters in 2 different servers.
You can, maybe probably get around it by making Alts, inviting all 4 in server, make the written agreement, and then repeat this process on the other server.

This. In fact, you could even increase your net worth doing this.
Easiest stuff to look for would be Materia, those Allagan pieces (you'd be surprised how many people sell them at or below selling-to-vendor cost on the MB), and just general crafting materials![]()

this would be against the rule since you bypass the limit this way and they made the limit because of balancing reasons of the market and the amount of gill ina server

I am using the MB to get rid of most of the gil right now, but I do still have quite a bit left. Also, making a profit is near impossible for me. I am moving from Gilgamesh, probably the most inflated market in all of MMO history, to Chocobo, where people aren't as greedy. Everything in Chocobo is less than 50% value than Gilgamesh. For example fat cats in Gilga are currently selling for xxx,xxx gil and in Choc they are only xx,xxx gil...
I would really like a word from a GM\Dev though. There are too many leeways and loopholes to this whole transfer gil limit issue and my question is, is there a written ToS paragraph about this? If not, are we allowed to do it?
Player
this wouldn't be against the tos as it is 2 players trading legitimately made gil, HOWEVER this is a trade that would be at your own risk as there would be no way for GM's to intervene as it is cross server. Most games have allowed it between softcore and hardcore for example as it is not trading with 3rd party sources for real money but always state at your own risk if you get scammed it was the risk you took. The safest way is to use the MB but sometimes this might require you taking a hit if the values are often smaller on the server your transferring too.

How is the trade being made, exactly? You want to leave Gilgamesh to go to Chocobo, and someone wants to leave Chocobo to go to Gilgamesh? They would be leaving most of their Gil behind right when they transferred anyway, and wouldn't be able to trade it with you. Maybe I misread and misunderstood your post?
Anyway, I would also like to see a GM respond to this, mainly out of curiosity. I think it sort of falls into that "Don't talk about it" category, sort of like people who use parsers (officially, it's against the ToS, buy Yoshi P. said that so long as you don't bring up using it, you'll be fine) and trading money between alts in other ways since you can't add yourself to your friends list.
WinterMaintenance is coming

I would imagine they would both make alts then transfer the 5 mil gil to those alts. Then in turn use those alts to transfer to gil to the world transferred character. How is the trade being made, exactly?
