I'm not burned out because I haven't raided Alexander yet, and only have one job at Lv60. I'd like to get my PLD (55) and WHM (50) to Lv60, but I dislike the Level grind now, thus making it very slow for me to gear up since my Lv60 is a DPS (NIN).
Heck, I haven't even stepped foot into Bismark Ex yet. I've never been this behind before.

The game is basically where its almost always been for me. Just something to do in general. It's not my #1 must-always-play game, not like how I'd have treated it back in 2003 or so. I think I've done this whole routine enough times throughout the years that I know what to expect, what burnout is for me, and how to treat it. I don't become delusional about such things because of that. I'm fond of the game as much as any other, possibly more attached to the name than most due to 1.0 and many years of FFXI, but that doesn't mean I have to hold the game or the devs on some untouchable pedestal, where if shaken, ridiculously results in me taking it out on how stupid/poor/unprofessional the devs are or how bad the game suddenly became. There's going to be times of drought like now, so if anyone was around during 2.0, you might want to reflect back to that time and look at it from outside of the "new game" perspective.
Burnout reaches us in a variety of ways. Most of us think of it as it hitting us all at once. This is certainly common, but it's also just as common to experience it slowly. Are you feeling bored/tired from leveling a job that you've always wanted, or thought to, without even playing it for more than mere minutes (or at all)? You're starting to feel the burnout. Replace "leveling a job" with some other activity and the same applies. Them adding more content of the same type (new generic dungeons or raids) helps the burnout a little bit, but it will quickly return, even faster than before. Heck, even totally new systems and mechanics being thrown into new content will result in an eventual burnout which, again, is faster than what it was originally. Recovering from burnout is honestly not a guarantee and likely will linger, but is best handled by taking breaks, length of time varying from person to person. It's a psychological "issue" that everyone gets from time to time, so blaming something that is out of your hands to be changed quickly is pointless and simply fuels the negativity. Basically, the only way that burnout is recoverable is by 1) you, the player, realizing more about how you should handle it for yourself (time off, finding new ways to enjoy yourself, etc). 2) by the devs essentially changing most of what you recognize as the systematic core of the game... basically, making a totally new game.

I'm not burned out because I am not looking for this game to be my sole form of entertainment, I don't re-run things several times a night to farm for stuff, and I dabble in a bit of everything. In fact if SE could see their way to finally giving all players the option to own a house - or (and this would be the ideal) something akin to the GeoRama that Level 5 put in White Knight Chronicles and before that Dark Cloud then I could spend literally dozens of hours a week perfecting things.
Then how are you on the forum? The last time I went more than 14 days without logging into the game it kicked me off the forum and would not let me log back in, until I went back into the game.
Well, I'm still not through the main HW content, thanks to a RL imposed playtime limit and my partner being unable to play - I stopped in the story where they did so we can move forward together. But I'm leveling bard, working on my crafters and trying to make some gil. So far the most fun I've had in the last week was completing the Eatery wall for our FC house (Behemoth, The Mist, ward 2 plot 31, see the big pink roof, Nekomimis FTW! -just think of us as your Neko Maid Cafe owning neighbors.... ) gathering materials synthing components and working together with members of my FC to build something was fun and reminded me of how we used to be, when we worked together for things.
Now that I say that I will put it this way, if there was more to do as a Free Company (guild) working together cooperatively, I think it would be of HUGE benefit to the game.
P.S. Uncharted Collection comes out next month, so I know what I will be doing 2-3 days a week....which will make my time in Eorzea that much sweeter.

I used to get burnt out quite constantly, I'd just log in whenever I had time and try to find something to do even though it wasn't enjoyable. I now log in once every day for the Mini Cactpot and Roulette Ex and let me tell you, I feel liberated more so than I did paying off crippling debts. It's even sorta fun to do a run of Neverreap now for some odd reason, maybe I'm going crazy. After I log in and accomplish my duties I just log off and go enjoy whatever else I'm doing now. Is it worth the $15 a month to log in for 30 minutes a day and do Neverreap? No, but I'm an idiot who trusted the developer team and paid in advance until December, and it looks like they repaid that trust by slapping me in the face and I'll in turn repay that slap by paying month to month with the cheaper sub option.
I'd suggest anyone else who is burnt out but subscribed in advance to do the same and just not play the game as much.
I feel your pain friend. I've got a pretty social FC so that helps and I also raid three times a week (though we've been banging our head against an Alex Savage brick wall for longer than I'd like). Levelling up different classes helps as I find it keep things fresh. The worst thing is just having just two dungeons for EX roulette. I used to love them but I'll be sick of them come November and 3.1.
Fancy Man of Gridania
Not true. I'm not even subbed to the game and haven't been on in awhile(way longer than 14 days). I came onto the forums and made a post 6 months after I had been unsubbed with no issue.
Hmmm...ok, thanks for the information. In that case I will be contacting the SE support folks to ask why I was having a problem then. I am certain that after 14 days of inactivity it invalidates your session on the forum to kick you off (just in case) but when I attempted to re-login it burbled on about not being able to determine whether I had logged into FFXIV in the last 14 days. Sounds like something odd happened, but as soon as I logged into the game again, everything returned to normal.
