The game is basically where its almost always been for me. Just something to do in general. It's not my #1 must-always-play game, not like how I'd have treated it back in 2003 or so. I think I've done this whole routine enough times throughout the years that I know what to expect, what burnout is for me, and how to treat it. I don't become delusional about such things because of that. I'm fond of the game as much as any other, possibly more attached to the name than most due to 1.0 and many years of FFXI, but that doesn't mean I have to hold the game or the devs on some untouchable pedestal, where if shaken, ridiculously results in me taking it out on how stupid/poor/unprofessional the devs are or how bad the game suddenly became. There's going to be times of drought like now, so if anyone was around during 2.0, you might want to reflect back to that time and look at it from outside of the "new game" perspective.
Burnout reaches us in a variety of ways. Most of us think of it as it hitting us all at once. This is certainly common, but it's also just as common to experience it slowly. Are you feeling bored/tired from leveling a job that you've always wanted, or thought to, without even playing it for more than mere minutes (or at all)? You're starting to feel the burnout. Replace "leveling a job" with some other activity and the same applies. Them adding more content of the same type (new generic dungeons or raids) helps the burnout a little bit, but it will quickly return, even faster than before. Heck, even totally new systems and mechanics being thrown into new content will result in an eventual burnout which, again, is faster than what it was originally. Recovering from burnout is honestly not a guarantee and likely will linger, but is best handled by taking breaks, length of time varying from person to person. It's a psychological "issue" that everyone gets from time to time, so blaming something that is out of your hands to be changed quickly is pointless and simply fuels the negativity. Basically, the only way that burnout is recoverable is by 1) you, the player, realizing more about how you should handle it for yourself (time off, finding new ways to enjoy yourself, etc). 2) by the devs essentially changing most of what you recognize as the systematic core of the game... basically, making a totally new game.
