Alot of the Healer gear looks very Feminine yes and even I think it looks weird on any males besides perhaps Mioqs and lalas, but the real problem is how we perceive it on the characters.
Take tank gear for example it's generally very masculine (especially WAR) but people think it looks fine on females while an MRoe in WHM gear looks like a "Pretty Princess"

the same as real life actually.
women wearing men's clothing is considered fine, the other way around though. whoa!

I had some healer friends revert back to glamouring their gear with High Allagan stuff. High Allagan looks alright to me.

Final fantasy wise, yea they're. Also yoshida said straight out on a PLL AF2 was more feminine due it being designed after the original white mage which is female.

You mean the retconed version. The orginal NES white mage was a dude.

When I get home I'll show you a side-by-side comparison. The hat might be new, but the robe itself is not. It's an old design recolored with some extra doodads.

I just googled it and "healer robes" for samples. There are quite a few robes that are similar to it. Here's one. I can find more when I get home, if you like.

I would like there to be more coats and halfrobes as options since robes clip horribly through my chocobo and turn every ride into a horror movie. I don't have a problem with robes in general, even though I have to admit the WHM and AST esoteric sets don't suit my character's build at all. When I'm not trying to ride a chocobo (or running - I hate seeing my gigantic elezen feet clipping through the back) I feel plenty cool and manly wearing a set of flowing robes :3

A way around this could be to make simple changes to the male gear in order for it to appear more masculine. For example, the summoner gear didn't have to have that one shoulder open on the male it could have been covered.

People would complain that the female version show more skin than the male version.
