Allow DRK Blood Weapon and Grit to be fully interchangeable

Now you may be wondering what I mean by the title of the thread, and really all I'm requesting is a simple fix to make DRK a little more efficient.

Currently, I'm only a level 35 DRK, so apologies if I seem unknowledgable about the finer points of the job, but one thing that seems to jar me while I'm playing on DRK is that Grit and Blood Weapon, while being two different stances for the tank, only seem to offer a one-sided switch in the form of Grit overwriting Blood Weapon, but that I have to manually turn off Grit before I can activate Blood Weapon.

Given that they're both stance changes, surely it should be tweaked in that Blood Weapon can overwrite Grit if activated while Grit is in effect, even knowing that it utilizes a timer before it wears off. Having to play about with removing one before I can activate another leaves me vulnerable for a short time, something that doesn't need to happen if I could simply toggle Blood over Grit, like one can toggle Grit over Blood.

Blood Weapon isnt really a stance though, it's a timed buff. You pop it and you get some regen/attack speed for a short time. Technically, Darkside is the other "stance" they have, but unlike paladins/warriors, Darkside can and should be used at the same time as their tanking stance.

The concept behind the DRK is that, outside of regular Syphon strikes, when tanking you should use Blood Price to regen MP (as you're getting hit), and when offtanking and thus not needing grit Blood Weapon is the go-to. You shouldn't really be dropping Grit purely for Blood Weapon use unless you're specifically planning on DPSing a particular phase of a fight and the healer is aware. Of course, in practise when it comes to minmaxing DPS then sure, but you shouldnt -need- blood weapon for MP regen when in tanking stance as Syphon Strike and Blood Price should be plenty.

I can see the advantage of Blood Weapon disabling Grit when you press it, but given that it does only last a small duration and is off the global cooldown (whereas Grit requires a GCD to activate) I can't see them implementing something like this.

I really like this idea. Would make it much easier to swap back and forth instead of having to wait for the end of the GCD to disable Grit.

You can easily drop Grit and use your shadow skin i think it's called defensive cooldown to give you the same amount of defense as you would have with Grit i fit was on (20% or so i think dmg reduction) for that extra burst of dps. Although i don't think you should do this in raids or extreme trials very often. It's a nice dps increase for dungeons and trash mobs. i feel like even though you are a main tank you should learn to utilize all the skills given to ya

No. Just learn to stance dance properly. Grit may be on the GCD but we still have it better than PLD in that turning it off is free, its only turning it on that costs you. PLDs have to waste a GCD either way.

How does this have anything to do with learning "to stance dance properly"? He just wants to be able to drop Grit automatically with Blood Weapon instead of needing to turn off Grit and then hit Blood Weapon. It's a simple QoL request, nothing more.

(also, Grit costs 2x what sword oath and shield oath does for a reason)

    He can, macro. Job done.

Now you can turn off grit as its Off GCD I think but it needs to be ready as a GCD to be turned on again. But turning it off won't don't as a GCD action.

But what you want can easily be macroed.

    /Ac Blood weapon
    /ac blood weapon
    /ac blood weapon
    /ac Grit

It's easy enough to say "macro it", but really, why should someone have to go through the effort of assigning and writing out a code work-around for something that could easily be solved on the developers' part?

And whether or not Grit is a "stance" and Blood Weapon is a "buff", the very nature of them being restricted by each other is reason enough to assume that when someone wants to switch them, they can simply overwrite one with the other if such a system is in place, which it is, but it is currently one-sided. It might not be the most viable solution in the endgame rotation to use Blood Weapon, but all I'm asking for is a slight technicality to be removed in regards to DRK's abilities, because it seems illogical. That doesn't mean I'm a scrub who can't "stance dance properly".

And that reason is because drk has way more means to getting mp back. There's just no logical reason to do what the op is asking. iirc drk also has a larger mp pool as well, and if not, the double mp cost still doesnt account for the loss of two gcds instead of one.

Let's take MP consumption and recovery out of the equation here. Why is there "no logical reason" to my suggestion? All I'm asking for here is a slight technical change so that the transition is seamless both ways, even if one of the abilities expires after a period of time, because both abilities restrict each other but only one can overwrite the other.

People seem to have their heads up their arses because I so much as insinuated that someone could even use Blood Weapon as an ability, which isn't recommended for the "endgame meta", and that's not what I'm even asking for.
