I don't think the question is specific enough. There's a difference between a "bad player" and a "player you don't want to play with".
I've been with players who could heal and DPS with the best of 'em, but their attitudes were so terrible that you just didn't want to be around them, eventually. Great player, but not great to play with. On the other hand, I've run with people who didn't know how to silence or stun and who turned mobs towards the party rather than away from it, but whose /smile could light up the whole dungeon. They weren't great players, but they were great to play with. And if they were willing to learn, well, I was more likely to call them a good player in the long run.

Very fair points here. I too would much rather spend more time with a less skilled player who is willing to learn than a jerk who is skilled but made the whole experience sour with hie/her attitude. XDI don't think the question is specific enough. There's a difference between a "bad player" and a "player you don't want to play with".

Someone that doesn't try within the context of the situation they are in. If you're doing 4-man dungeons, just try to be acceptable to the point of not being a detriment to your group (as in being overall more useful than someone that is AFK). If you're doing harder content, same rules apply but in a stricter sense.
That's more of a context of being a bad person than a player. Think of it like sports. All the bad publicity that athletes get don't make them a bad player of their sport, it makes them a bad human being. Their skills as players make them a good (or bad) player. Their personalities make them a good (or bad) person. I play games with folks that are terrible as players, but it doesn't mean I don't like them as people. I just probably wouldn't recommend them to a group looking to do difficult content.I don't think the question is specific enough. People seem to never read anything in general. No one wants to read tooltips, no one wants to read the description of their job abilities, no one reads the text in the story (and then they complain that the story is stupid), no one reads ANYTHING.
Jobs have specific functions.. and if someone is trying to perform another function (a common example is the Fractal, wherein the caster or ranged dps fires away at the boss while ignoring the adds, and forces a melee to run across the arena and try to take them out) it is basically taking their own advantage as a job class and tossing it because they either A) don't understand even at 60 or B) are arrogant little children that simply do not take what is going on seriously whatsoever. This is just a simplified example as I was in daily roulette as DRG and the SMN refused to touch the adds, so I had to jump over and either resume the combo going or re apply heavy thrust and start again; as opposed to continuing to play that combo out.
My qualifications to get on my "bad player list" are the following:
- Having a bad attitude. It is quite possible to take a game seriously without acting like a complete jerk when things are not going your way.
- Players that are obviously not trying. I can forgive if you at least have NQ class & level-appropriate gear. RNG can be unkind in those green & pink drops. Also: don't wear NQ vendor gear in raids. It's not a good idea.*
- Bots.
* I experienced this last night. Queued up for Qarn, got an in-progress. Turns out I replaced a bot (or a really bad player... though botters are bad players to begin with) Arcanist that used only topaz carbuncle, worse crafting gear (especially accessories), had a level 1 ring that had crit. The trio were so relieved to not get another bot to replace that Arcanist.
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
"It's my sub, I play how I want."
not being teachable or listen to others.
"Try not. Do or do not. There is no try."
