I just want to add something, most people think the game "succeed", but in reality it didnt. Yes it made some money for SE, but SE business forces you to sub. Now i'm not denying it had some good subs, even milions, but the truth is, this game is a fast burning candle, and in my opinion any serious developer would avoid taking that path, i see less and less players playing, and dont be fooled by SE market claims, they will never share the actual amount of playing customers.
You'd want to keep a good income, people been telling them since day 1, i'm afraid if they dont start listening, at first sign of another good mmo, this game will be desert, we are past a point of no return.

its true, the only way they listen is when no one plays...see: 1.0. I am starting to wonder if that is what it will take for them to make a change again

well thats excatly what the new relic will do again because you know :"stick to working formula" and dont ever try anything new as it COULD FAIL and reduce money income.

sadly this is not an SE only "issue" its a common problem on basicly ALL eastern mmo developers. ALL of the eastern mmos in the past decade have failed in the western markets (sure they keep running sometimes but only with a very tiny playerbase of diehard fanboys) and the main reason why they failed was almost NEVER technic or graphic or gameplay. it all boiled down to either of two things for thier endgame content or at worst BOTH of it : GRIND + RNG. examples : Tera/Aion/Lineage2/bladeandsoul/black desert/archage. they ALL have had this issue.

i think they dont understand WHY we dislike this at all. they dont get it which MIGHT be a result of the language barrier you spoke of aswell not sure. they have totally different mentalitys over there i think. for some reason they take grind and RNG as a challenge for themselfs while we HATE such stuff and rather want content that requires playerskill to get done. and i think they just dont understand this kind of "thinking" we have on that. hence why thier mmos keep failing on the west one after another. archage beeing most recent example.

ff is imo one of the most successful mmos on the west because its grind and RNG amount are not even close as crazy as these other games. but you can see it here and there on ff aswell if you look for it (materia for example) but its still not AS bad as those other games.

if they would understand this and rather create challenging and engaging content thier mmos would probaly be VERY successful worldwide. but they keep sticking to GRIND+RNG meta forumla and while some of this is NEEDED and ok once they go past a certain point it becomes crazy and unfun or rather unfair or feels like WORK instead of GAMING neither of these is good for a mmo. example : if youre to stupid or unwilling to learn a bossfight and dont get the rewards its YOUR own fault or problem. but if the RNG keeps deleteing your progress because youre unlucky you are not to blame for it because you have ZERO control over your luck/rng and that is frustrating as all hell and this is the point they dont seem to get sadly.

Just wanted to join in with the chorus. The game has killed any drive I used to have to farm end game content. I've even taken intentional breaks from static nights because I can't stomach Alex Savage anymore. Tight DPS checks on top of tight mechanics where everyone needs to be aligned perfectly are tedious and no fun. Margin of error: zero. You basically have to be completely perfect, like a robot. Not everyone is, not everyone will be in every static and when the reason one can't progress is because one of the DPS is not doing that 40-50 more DPS is disheartening and demoralizing for a static. My static already lost a member who's been with us since the start because he felt like the weaker link and he was too stressed already. He was a good player, but because he wasn't perfect, he couldn't progress through. He already quit, as we are on last phase of AS3. This disheartened me and made me want to stop raiding altogether (on top of the obvious state of endgame, too). Even now I'm still deciding on what to do. I don't want to break my static up by leaving but I also don't want to keep doing this tedious content where one itty bitty jump roping mistake will cause a wipe and gotta start over. Unfortunately, there is no other combat content worth doing. Where's the content where we can have fun doing challenging stuff but where we can at least be ourselves and not have to strive to be a robot in order to complete things. I mean if we are going through all this might as well get rewards that we know will be worth it for a long time and not get replaced every few months. Also, Alex lore is very uninteresting imo.

Then we have the bland armor system, no interesting stats. Then the fact that we can't even gear up our secondary jobs competitively to bring them for raiding. End game is too restrictive and bland at the moment. If someone can't make it for a night or two it's hell trying to find someone else. Because it's not just lockouts that were the problem but also the fact that the (only) content that is 8 member or die is the one that is locked out weekly, instead of every 2 or 3 days or worked like Imperial Army I.D tags. Then we'd have more means to gear up our secondary, tertiary jobs. Where's the content that's actually challenging enough that you can only complete with competitive people from FC and not just statics. I barely get to do anything with my FC. What's the point of FCs again? (hoping the airship content changes this).

To add, raid structures. They are the same from 2.0. 4 bosses each floor (rather, room, because that's what it essentialy is) with some trash that's completely meaningless in between. I cannot stomach anymore dungeons, I dread everytime I know I have to do them because they are the ones that give the most eso. I'm even considering doing PvP instead because that is one of the few things that are actually fun in the game but those queue times are horrendous due to the GC limitation.

All in all, endgame feels restrictive and bland, that it makes it boring. *shrugs*

Among other things, I would like to see this as well.

BiS is something that every community will mandate, eventually. But let that fall on the community rather than the developers. When I geared out WHM for Coil, I didn't use the BiS gear; instead, I mixed and match crafted gear, soldiery gear, and poetics gear. From what our raid leader told me, something Yoshi P. said alluded to the idea that that's what he wanted us to do in the first place.

But I know that, had I traveled in more "hardcore" statics, my gear choice probably would have been met with discontent. At the very least, why not allow us to meld whatever materia we want onto gear without detrimental effects? I think it's rather pointless to cap each attribute on gear since the number of materia you can affix is already capped, in a sense.

I'm not really displeased with the game, nor am I anywhere close to quitting. But that might be because I wasn't around for the end of ARR; I'd taken a break and had one or two patches to catch up on, and I hadn't even reached Garuda. So I didn't experience a new set's lockout until with the soldiery or poetics set. But with the way the game is currently set up, I'm not even bothering to farm esoterics. I'm having fun doing completely unrelated things. My next personal quest is to level of Alchemist to make use of expendables during combat...another idea which, as OP stated, is something that would be great in this game. But it's blocked off due to long cooldowns that are shared among types.

Not only do I doubt the NA team actually delivering these posts, even if they did, yoshi won't be there to read it. He's too busy having paid for vacations disguised as PR. From gamescom, to E3, to Pax, to China, to Korea, to TGS in the span of 3 months. Then again, as a PR it just seems too much for an mmo. Not even blizzard did this many with one person at the helm enjoying all that travelling (I only saw metzen on blizzcon streams but correct me here).

You know how you used and maybe still do watch the liveletters and what not and noticed how sometimes yoshi doesn't even know what his team is doing or what's being put into the game? He's the head director and producer too..Makes you wonder if he's really just all PR.

Can you give an example of this?

There's like 50+ 1 hour long live letters to scour. That's probably 50 hours too long for me to look through. One example though, I think was him showing a gearset (on one character on a sheet of paper) and talking about it and genuinely asking someone from out of camera where this piece drops from. I can't remember what the gearset was because I generally don't pay much attention to those since my streaming quality is low and just pay attention to the google docs more (go ask my fc lead on steam, you have him on your list). Now, for someone who doesn't seem to program, to compose, to model, draw for his game and just 'directs' I was hoping he'd know about what gets put into his game.

Also I think he showed ultima hard fight along time ago? Where he participated as a black mage? For someone who claims to play his own game as a blm (and even raid), he didn't seem to know it very well.
