until they develop content along the lines of limbus, dynamis, Sky, and dynamic fights that require playing your job well more than dodging mechanics to not die this game has brought nothing new to the table since 2.0 I did all of the coils and enjoyed it. Either give me new content that grows beyond the last 2 years or tell me this is as good as its going to get so I can invest my need for a great MMO in somethign thats worth $15 a month. There is no real incentive for me to do Savage when I get trolled enough doing Alex normal just to get the highest ilvl in game atm so I can say wow I did that now what.

Indeed, the Savage gear really is pointless. The only reason I'd run Savage would be to get the upgrade materials for the Eso gear. I really don't care about the upgraded Alex gear though and I feel most people would also rather have the upgraded Eso gear. But let's be honest the upgrade materials for the Eso will be made available in more casual content soon enough. So Savage is going to be dead sooner rather than later, especially since it has no added story or anything new over regular Alexander.

I know I'd rather have the upgraded Eso gear, and yeah... the upgrade items could possibly drop from the Void Ark; which will be here soon. To boot, the Alex gear is ugly and all of the sets pretty much look the same.

I was a pretty hardcore raider but I just see no point in Savage and have no plans to do it.

Which is so odd because so much gear has become pointless even faster than normal.

I think most of the posts in this forum can be summarized with the points in your post. Yoshi is too focused on 'new' players to the extent that they have poor player retention built into the game. Think about it for a second, almost everything we do is targeted to help new players advance but there is little advancement for end game.

At least in 1.x they had player polls so we had some voice, but now we must assume they read the forums, but i honestly doubt it. If they did, we would have more then 2 ex dungeons, 2 sets of end game gear and bard would not be a caster. (heh we might even have a ranged phy dps that didnt get a 'support class' label applied... (aka a justification for the weakest dps possible))

The only option i would see is to fire/replace Yoshi. Seriously, i think its time for some new directions and leadership. He seems more like a celebrity then an executive producer.

Hopefully one day they realize that 'Grind' does not equal 'Fun', and as a company engaged in international business, that they realize they need to cater to multiple audiences even to the extent that their communications are in multiple languages. Its 2015, about time they realize that their fans don't all speak Japanese. The excitement fades quickly when we need someone to translate for them or wait a few weeks before they get to it...

    Agree with this.

I don't want to derail the thread but maybe Yoshi should go have a quiet word with Hiromichi Tanaka one evening over a few glasses of the good stuff. Ask him how he got it so right with FF11 for such a long time.

Add that friendship circlet for us when getting a friend.. that helps up to lvl 25.. and then came 3.0.. with lvl 30 jobs.. o.O

Useless for someone like me that got all of the other classes to 50..

I'm having big expectations for 3.1, and excited, can't wait!!

Yoshi wants to keep the game as silly simple and brain dead as he can to appeal to casual gamers. I would like more complexitiy to the game but from the other side the game succeeded as it is which means this works for the majority of players. It will also be harder to keep balance. The more classes/skills/mehcnaics/systems you have in battle the harder to keep the balance.

I'm starting to feel discouraged as well, for a number of reasons. I'm hoping that 3.1 will address this. I'm a progression-minded player. I like working toward concrete, worthwhile goals that feel achievable. I love the feeling of finishing something (say a raid tier, or a relic stage, or a crafting progression stage) and being rewarded for it.

Most avenues of the game now don't really provide that feeling for me.

Savage doesn't feel achievable in the way that Coil once did, even if there are rewards (dyable gear) that I want. The difficulty is far beyond what I'm comfortable tackling (but I had no problem with FCOB).

Alex Normal has no meaningful progression aspects, as the content is designed to be rather easy, and the rewards are lackluster (this will be even more apparent once we have 24-man gear, which will presumably be i200 and obtainable at a similar level of difficulty).

EX primals, while providing a good amount of challenge, don't really provide useful rewards given the availability of Esoterics gear (Ramuh EX and Moogle EX had this problem too), especially since weapons no longer have a token requirement (which is a good change, don't get me wrong).

Crafting progression is heavily gated, and while it takes a lot of effort, the rewards of that effort are essentially non-existent. Current 2-star recipes are largely meaningless, meaning that the only accomplishment is the ability to say that you *can* make the items. There's not any benefit to *actually* making them, though, so the whole thing feels hollow.

The cycle of vertical progression has always involved resets and "getting gear to get more gear," and burnout's completely understandable. I'm not burntout though as much as I feel like there's just no real meat to the content anymore.

3.1 will hopefully bring the new relic line which should provide a long-term, achievable and meaningful goal. But even with that, it'll probably the *only* thing I have to work toward in that manner that is achievable but also meaningful.

it would be nice if the new relic quest has its own content as in : "new relic raids" like the chimäre fight or the hydra fight etc. or some new dungeon just for the relic.
I hope it dosnt turn into farm fates or old dungeons again :P
