I don't watch/read guides for dungeons, primals and 24 players raids cause you can understand things on the go but it's different with primal EX and raids, they may have some hard mechanics and I don't want to waste other people time and neither being carried. Though I may use PF, like I did for Ravana Ex, for blind training if I want.

Dungeons: I always go in with a premade of my friends first, don't watch any guides, just have fun and pay attention to any lore/cutscenes that they add in.

Primals: Story mode I'll wing it, EX I watch a guide for.

24m: Usually do these the first week they come out so generally people don't know the mechanics like myself, ends up fine most of the time.

8m Normal: Since Alex NM is the only version of this so far, I winged it and hoped for the best. Was pretty easy, only had trouble in A3 when people wouldn't let me take the tether off them. Got various advice from linkshells as information was found out.

Savage: Always watch a video if one is available. Being in a static means you're working as a team to challenge the hardest content. If anyone in your team watches a guide and you don't, you're holding back your team. That said if you're doing early progression and guides aren't available yet, wing it and hope for the best.

I don't watch them, ever really.

Mostly because I absorb better by reading though; so for something like a raid or an EX, I'll read about the fight before I try it. Usually. Though if someone acts like a waste of pixels about "have you watched the fight" and generally ranting, I will flat out refuse to elaborate on my "No". Mostly because, outside of PF groups with "No Bonus" or other "cleared it already" runs .... you've got no right to expect anything other then people meeting minimum requirements. That's all that is promised with duty finder, after all. Asking if I "know" the fight or am familiar with the mechanics? Better result.

Outside of DF, if you come into my party and haven't watched a video/read a guide or have a bonus (when NO BONUS is explicitly stated) for any complicated fight (I don't care if its T9 unsync) you're getting the boot/disband.

Had some douche bag in Ravana farm the other day who wouldn't admit that he was the bonus. Everybody linked a Ravana drop, somebody just stole one and linked it from chat. Never did find out who it was after 15 wipes. Was either the Tank or the AST (they were doing bad).

I don't understand the "I want to experience the fight" mentality.

Well I'm sorry. If we wipe on every mechanic (10+ of them) in every phase because of YOU. That group is breaking up LONG before you get your chance to "See the fight and learn the mechanics".

You want to spend hours upon hours doing a fight to figure out the mechanics on your own, join a learning party. Dont be that douche bag that holds everyone back.

There is absolutely nothing lore wise thats lost in watching a video. Watch your cutscenes thats all fine and cool.

I'll watch a video (if there's a decent one available) to give me an idea of what to expect. Still, nothing beats good, old-fashioned first-hand experience.

It's fun to learn new things while experiencing them, so I don't read or view SHIT

no one is going to become an expert at a raid by watching a video anymore than they can become a star football player by watching videos of Peyton Manning.

Can't become an expert but you can learn the fundamentals. Joining a random group and expecting everyone to be experts or have fundamentals is fine, the problem comes when one rages and demands the person be an expert or grasp fundamentals.

Not everyone has the same mindset, at least we have the disband/kick function.
