Do you have DoF on? This setting usually makes the game look more misty. However I also don't like the coloring of the environment when it's not sunny.

Game is washed out looking. I never wanted it to be WoW coloured, but it definitely could use a little life in it. The graphics engine as well just needs to be brought into this century, DirectX9 has been fully explored, and this game is not really using a lot of its features. Thats sad when you say DX11 has been out for a while now.

Witcher 2 is DX9 and looks awesome, I'd like this game to be at least DX10 too but... let's not bring back "the we NEED DX11" discussion.

Yeah I have no desire to explore that discussion either, just acknowledging that the graphics engine is using technology that is 2 generations behind current, and it's not really exploiting the power of that 2 generation old foundation, which is disheartening.

NO DX10! That will take the game away from us clever people who didn't buy Vista and stuck with XP for it's stability and general all-around betterness as an operating system :3

Windows 7 however, I would upgrade to if I could afford it...

    Here's a daytime picture.

Yes, it's overcast and it may be realistic, but is it nice to look at? No, it's dull and drab. It's a shame because the graphics otherwise are fantastic.

Is it just my game? Because that is pretty much what I'm looking at all the time.

I understand your plight, they could work in directx9 and achieve great things. They just failed to.

I do think backward compatibility with aging systems is the tool of the devil. It holds everyone back. This game is a double edged sword because it must maintain compatibility with the PS3. So with that noose around its neck I don't ever expect to see amazing graphics out of it.

Do what I do when the colours of Thanalan get me down: Go to La Noscea where everything is bright and colourfull.

Probably your Contrast Ratio or monitor.

As for the colors being washed out thats just the game, as its all very dull as it tries to be too realistic and uncreative.

Actually it does having amazing graphics to those with an eye to spot the tiny details.

If you start in Limsa, during the opening cut-scene where Leviathan leaps out of the water, look carefully at the droplets of water when the camera does a close-up of your characters face.

Each of those droplets of water is reflecting bits of the scenery, independently.

That's pretty amazing graphics if you ask me :3
