What do you guys do when this happens?

Just leave the instance or sit in a corner and go afk for 30 mins as soon as you see a behavior like this, but make sure you took a screenshot with names and characters' faces.
It's better to get the penalty than dealing with this kind of guys. I mean, it's only a 4 men dungeon, even if someone is bad it's really easy to carry them on. They just want to act like morons.

Afk - Watch netflix. Press a button once every 6 minutes until kicked. Report for harassment after they get mad and name call for a extensive amount of time.

never experienced this in FF and I thought FF community wasn't as toxic as the WOW community so that's a surprise reading this

Yeah they're rare, they just latch onto your memory unlike all the excellent to "ok" dungeon runs you do. CT trio used to be the prime target for this as people would be crying bloody murder in /a and /shout even when the run was going without a hitch. If I see any of this crap I'll attempt votekick and drop if it fails, as I've other stuff to do than give them a circus.

Hmmm can't say I've ran into a trully trollish premade... but yeah stop healing, sit down, don't do anything generally is what I'd do in such a case.

If it's an actual troll I'll report them, leave if it's really getting us nowhere. I'm not afraid of a penalty.

Been playing since 2.0 and never run into this. Not once. If people are constantly telling you you're doing terribly... well no offense, but have you considered that maybe you're playing badly?

I am fairly certain he is passive aggressively telling the OP that they are casual scum and a bad player, and that the people telling him he sucks are experienced vets who know how to properly play their class as they've cleared the hardest content in the game.

OP, I kind of agree with Maleviction. I've never seen this, and if it's a common occurrence, then maybe what they are saying are actually tips to try and help you. I know that when people tell you how to play, it can appear offensive. Just remember that tone isn't very well conveyed through text and maybe they weren't trying to be as mean as you received it?

I have seen this happen in 2.0... but only once. It was ifrit HM via duty finder, and half of the group (tank, healer, dps, dps) was a bunch of high-geared folks just based on their HP in the party list. They trolled the CRAP out of the group, wiping it at least 3 times on purpose, and blaming the other tank (who wasn't in their premade) every single time (and I know for a fact that at least one of the wipes was caused by the dragoon pulling the boss and dragging it over the group). The tank tried to protect himself, but they shouted him down each time (it didn't help that the tank wasn't a native speaker). The party dissolved shortly therafter.

So yeah, this does happen, but it's VERY rare. I guess the moral of the story is: "Some people are just a-holes."

I have no idea why you got that conclusion from that post, it seems pretty clear to me: bored high-end raiders trolling DF groups just because they can ('casual scum' being used sarcastically / ironically in this context). It's not a new phenomenon, and it's definitely not unique to FFXIV or high-end raiders for that matter. It's just... jerks being jerks.

It happens in all content, usually as it becomes older. They're now in Alexander & I've completely lost any interest in running it with PUGs even though I need to get a particular drop.

Annoyingly they tend to be people who have done things like Savage with their statics so think it's great fun to rile up the "casual scum" who can't dedicate the time and/or money.

BINGO This is precisely what happens. And its not just a FFXIV thing either. Same thing happened on WoW with their Looking For Raid que. People who cleared hard modes would que as groups to troll casuals and punish them for not being "real" raiders.

Some people are only happy if they are making others miserable.
