Immersion isn't just some word that people made up here to attack others with or something.. (It's a little amusing that some are acting so offended by the word. There is no personal attack going on.) Immersion is what makes an RPG an RPG. Instant transportation does take immersion down a notch.

This is just me, but I don't understand how anyone would have fun playing an RPG and not enjoy the lore and feel and scenery of the game. The thought is just... foreign to me. That sounds like an FPS to me. You just play it to play it, not to take time and enjoy the world.

(Kudos to those who can state their opinion on these forums without attacking others'.

All I know is, if I don't get the immersive feeling from this game that I need to escape from RL for short bursts of time, then I won't be here for very long come pay time. (Aion is full of lore and immersion )

Right now they could make this game into another FF tactics game. There aren't really many goals, not much to the scenery yet (as regions are just the same thing over and over).. We have a battle system. O.o We have people speeding around, and so no reason to actually travel areas. Why not get rid of them all? We can all be in waiting rooms, with one tiny map of instances, and just pop in and out of battles with random people/Garleans/monsters. It would be a pretty tactics game with the nice graphics we have now. But XIV is not immersive for me right now, and so it feels sort of like a repetitive, small, instanced tactics game. :x

Hey, if the game fails as an RPG, it could be a good tactics game! lol.. (at least that doesn't really need immersion ^^; )

Who would that be anyways? Unfortunatly we can't really gauge how the community feels as a while, hell even on the forums the sides are pretty split.

Unfortunatly SE hasn't done a players poll in a long while so we don't know what the people who don't post here think. So I think we need to stop assuming that either side of the fence has "The players" on their side.

It's pretty evident by the fact that this has gone on for so long that there are a good few people who don't care much about immersion. If I were the sole voice of dissent maybe you'd have something with that, but unfortunately for you I am not and you do not.

The fact is, Yoshi-P is attempting to cater to both crowds, most of us who are all for allowing the instant-travel option to say are also glad that there will be a longer travel option for those who prefer not to instaport.
