I would have still made this thread whether mine had been picked or not. I feel the choice selection as a whole lack variety. I'm not begrudging individual entries nor am I saying mine should have or even my favorite concept should have made it in.
I'll share what I believe can be improved upon should another contest come out where the community is asked to vote. These are changes that I believe should be considered to ensure a more accurate poll. I'll have to break it into a few parts since it's quite long.
For one, they could have arranged it differently so that results were only revealed at the end of the voting period. I think this would have been a better option, one reason being the time zone difference. Hairstyles that are more popular with the Japanese culture were probably where the initial influx of votes came from. To be fair that's just me guessing, but this sets up a trend of people possibly voting for what hairstyle they want out of the current leaders as opposed to what hairstyle they actually liked best. (For those wondering why I thought the Japanese got a head start is because voting started at around 6 A.M EST I believe and that's 7 P.M in Japan and 11 A.M in Europe.)
[...]But I mean...even without the time zone difference I don't doubt that just being able to identify who the current leaders in the contest were had influenced the votes from players who had not yet voted.
Also, if they're going to keep the same setup, they need to be a little more clear. I don't mean to make anyone feel bad but I think that initial wording in official post (Voting for the Hairstyle Design Contest Begins!) ended up misleading players when it was written that players could vote on multiple entries. Granted they did explain that it was only the final "Like!" that would be counted..but it undoubtedly caused some confusion. As a result we saw that some clarification was given and they edited the official post. For example, I did read a post from some players who misunderstood that bit as if it were saying something along the lines of, "yes you can vote more than once, but it won't increase your chances of being selected for the drawing of the Scarf of Wondrous Wit." (That was me paraphrasing) Also if you wondering, I didn't personally have that problem though I did think it was an issue that could have been avoided by arranging the process differently.

I'm just upset that all the male hairstyles are...well, female. Something masculine would've been nice.
I can't say for sure but I think most if not all assume that the misunderstanding concerning the voting of multiple entries has made it questionable as to which entry is actually winning.
"* Due to the way the forum works, the number of "Likes!" will increase each time they are selected; however, only the final "Like!" from each user will be counted, and there may be instances where the numbers shown on the forum are different than the actual results. "
So I mean I write this knowing full well that it's nice to know where things stand sooner than later. At the same time, I think nobody knowing the results helps to increase the chances of winning for each finalist. Also, the end result really won't be accurate since you'll probably see votes shifting to the hairstyles that actually have a chance of winning as we get closer to the end of the voting period.

Fuma: please stay on topic and only post constructive ideas.
It's not as black and white as you think. It's quite likely that it could have been anyone that made this thread to talk about the issues regarding the lack of unique hairstyles to choose from, regardless of whether or not they submitted. We are here, 20 pages later, aren't we? Plus other threads that speak about the same issues.
This isn't just about me. This is about the collective we who feel the same. The issues are real, I was just the first to think of making this topic. I'm the facilitator, not the leader.
