Nah, they can revert back to adding classes again if they want them to be available to newer players. Like how Rogue was. They could be used to attract said newer players. The 3 Heavensward jobs could be the exception. But the expansion is so far off and we won't know until then.

Reverting back doesn't really make much sense now that they've started this trend. You can still go classless and have them be available to new players to tinker around with regardless. If they were going to stick around with classes I think we would've seen the 3 HW jobs with base classes. There's no real reason to leave all 3 of them the odd men out, even if you want to restrict them to starting out lvl 30+ in the beginning, and suddenly boom classes/jobs again. Add on the fact that all the new abilities are job specific for each job and can't even be used by classes and the evidence just mounts. It doesn't really make much logical sense to do a 180 on all that.

Besides, at this point in the game the class/job system feels like nothing more than a 1.x hold out. Once you get a soulstone there isn't much reason to return to using the base class except only in the most niche of instances.

We already have two tanks that use swords, it's getting old. If Samurai comes it will most definitely be a DPS and thank goodness, I've wanted a sword using dps since I started playing.

SO red mage dps, blue mage dps, samurai dps. cool dps just become so common we no longer need tanks. obviously it has to be a tank.

Im hoping that we can see the Garlean Empire capital next expansion and have a class that uses the gun blade as a weapon. We know from lore that red mages use a blade as a weapon so why not the gunblade

Have to say Im looking forward to the samarai. Blue mage and Redmage will never ever meet player expactations not after FFXI. I think alot of the people who want this will be very disappointed due to how limited FFXIV is and how it is set up.

Considering the meltdown when the dps players learned DRKS were tanks, I don't think they'd chance it with Samurai.

It's kinda funny to think that Dark Knight ended up a tank and Samurai will probably be a DPS, in a kind of switch of their ideals according to what they previously were.
I think it'll be interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing how they bring a slow, sword-breaking job into the MMO world.

I can only hope they wont do ffxi kind of sam but instead do a more modern style. I really hope they will draw the inspiration from seven samurai or possibly musashi as opposed to the ffxi we are used to. To me it would be easier to have a story like pld, a ronin warrior. I also hope they pull from fft and make sam a support tank or maybe a debilitating dps something lime that.
