The average level of people job is really low for how long the game has been out. Must be way too many people that level one job and that is it...wow....just wow.

I'd assume its because FFXIV:ARR targets a casual audience for the most part. Their time is a lot more limited. Also, there is the inventory issues that can shut down some long term players. The character I have in my portrait isn't my first character. I made this one to try escaping my inventory issues on my main.
I can sympathize. Back in 2.1 I barely made it through Turn 5 and that was due to a tedious alliance of benched backup players between several raid teams. There aren't as many people willing to take up leadership positions because of the more casual nature of the game.Well, duh. It's because people who were in raid groups within the 3 Coils of Bahamut, are going to stay with each other in Alexander. In so doing, people who haven't been able to clear all the Bahamut Coils, like myself, due to a lack of raid groups willing to give outsiders a chance to get the coils clear, are unwilling to even attempt Alexander because if we can't get into raid groups for the Bahamut Coils, what makes you think we will even get a chance at Alexander?

It doesnt say how they calculate that. Do they take the average of all classes a person has unlocked? Or do not unlocked classes count as lvl 1 and lower the average? I'd probably go with the first one. Seeing how many people unlock classes, especially crafters, im not suprised that the average isnt even half of the max level.
And think of it - if you got one level 60 and unlocked all crafters/gatherers (and lets assume you got two other classes to 40 for your cross class abilities) it puts your average at level 10,78 - and i know many people that never even bothered to level crafters past level 5 and only got one 60...

I'm wagering it's all those RMTs that only level BLM
RMTs gotta level up

It's not that low really. Consider that you can level multiple classes on one character. Then consider that most people don't level all their classes all the way to 60. For example, I leveled lancer just to unlock monk. Then I never touched the class again. (I know, I know, I'm a scrub for not getting Blood for Blood) But then you can also factor in that people are only leveling certain classes to unlock cross class abilities too.
My high levels are 60 Warrior and 50 monk. But I also have Conjurer at 7, Gladiator at 22, Lancer at 17, Ninja at 32. So I have a handful of extra classes I play and only one that is max level. However, ALL of these extra classes, a few I don't even play anymore, were all counted in the average.
Every class from every character, level 6 and above are included on the average level.
THAT is why the average is so low.
