You'll always be told that you're a terrible player.

No matter what you do, or how much you force yourself to adapt, you will always be told that you're bad at what you do at some point or another. This is just how a lot of people are.

Don't let it get to you. Play to the best of your abilities and don't stress yourself out, no one can ask anymore of you than that and if they do then they're not worth listening too anyway. People get frustrated, angry and there is truly no pleasing some players so don't let their opinions ruin the game for you.

Keep doing your best, keep enjoying your game.

    Yep!

In Research Facility, the mobs were dying relatively slow with me as NIN and the other DPS was BLM. That said, the WAR mentioned my damage being low, that I need to step it up, and he wanted me to use Death Blossom more instead of spamming Doton. The BLM left after the WAR said that. After the next pull, the AST laughed and said, "the kill rate is the same".

Notably, I am no longer a raider because I'd rather shy away from these insults.

Maybe I am, but I feel like I'm doing my best and I can't do anymore than that. If that's an issue then should I quit playing? Free up server space for a better player?

Come on man, it's posts like these that undermine the spirit of a good community.

I don't know whether you're good or bad, but I do not believe that line specifically. You can't do better than your best at a given time, but your best tomorrow can be better than your best today. You can continue improving. Don't use "oh well guess I'm bad" as an excuse for complacency. Even the best players have room to improve, but only do so by actually putting forth the effort.

If you care about your play enough to be better, then you can be. If you don't care enough about it then that's fine too. It's just a game after all. But don't pretend you've hit your ceiling. You haven't.

Being an astrologian. When people zone in and see me, they expect me to be terrible, and am the first to be blamed when something goes wrong.

I once had a tank that was taking so much damage (he facepulled everything too), that after i had healed him to a comfortable level, he died in the time it took me to draw a card (i was hoping for bole, but would have taken anything).

    Guess who got yelled at.

This is because some people get ideals in their heads and sit on them without ever trying to find the truth. Belief is a strong construct, one which people use to overlap the objective reality with their own simply because that is what they prefer. After all, it is human nature to pursue our own happiness, regardless of how that makes others feel. Unfortunately, due to this lack of a grip on objective reality, those type of people will be unable to really succeed anywhere where logic applies. Video Games is one such field as it is an entire aspect of logic.

To that I agree, however no one should be forced to play to a point where it stresses them out. Even if they do, in the eyes of many players they will never be good enough. For example you can get better at prediction but a lot of people just have naturally slower response to things. That is not their fault and they shouldn't be blamed for it.

For as much as dps get ragged on, stupid tanks have (at least in my experience) been far more common, frankly. And I don't just mean Warriors either(although they're a pretty hefty percentage). I just learned to tune out the divas.

And I've said this in other threads, but I'll say it again: yes you will meet a few jerks. There are millions of accounts. It's statistically impossible for there not to be jerks at this point. But if you're actually putting forth effort, then like 99% of the people in this game are fine with you. It's really not hard to meet the bare minimums required to not hold people back (outside of savage, but that's wholly a different thing). People are more impressed by a 1200dps drg than a 900 dps drg, but the only one they're particularly annoyed by is the 450dps drg.
