I can't speak for everyone else but I do feel FFXIV is no longer fun. 3.0 is nothing more than a 2.0 re-skin with flying mounts. First time getting to level 60 was enjoyable for the most part with doing all the side quests and MSQs along the way so you get to enjoy the open world content. But after that leveling up a 2nd class is extremely boring. All you have is leve quests, fates and dungeons. Dungeons by far give the best exp but que times are absolutely terrible. You can do fates or leves in-between que's but they are mind numbing and a pain do solo (3.0 fates).
So that leads me to end game. Back in 2.xx when I got bored with the normal hack and slash grind I would hop on my crafts and gathering to make things for my tiny house or help gear up some folks in the FC. But 3.0 crafting/gathering is no longer for casuals. The sheer amount of mats you need would cost you an arm and a leg off MB or you would have to level up each craft and gathering class at the same time to gain any benefits. It 2.xx it wasn't to bad as far as mats needed but 3.0 is insane. I remember a few months before HW was launched that Yoshi said they are working on a way to allow you to not need all crafts leveled up to be an effective crafter. Well from what I've seen that is not the case and you can see that in the crafting lists.
I understand that mmo's like ffxiv needs to make money to keep things going but this is ridiculous. I picked up game for $20 off PSN for the ps4 and found it to be very refreshing. SAO is a vita port and if anyone has ever heard of SAO (Sword Art Online) then you know its an anime that is based on a MMO. Anyway this vita port game is amazing. The solo content plays just like a mmo there is a lot of grinding but it goes about it in a different way. You don't feel like you are grinding at all but you are grinding your tail off for multiple things such as special stats, special type of gear, special types of skills and so on. You grind to level up but your Level has nothing to do with your weapon skills or gear. To gain weapon skill points you need attack mobs. To gain special types of skills you have to do very specific things in missions to get them and its the same for the special type of gear that work with your burst gauge. You also have to work on weapon skill trees to unlock new weapon classes... Btw there is a online part of the game as well.
Conclusion if a game such as SAO that was originally for the Vita can do many things better than FFXIV then there is no excuse to give us the run around. FFXIV is not only boring but its a complete rip-off. The only thing going for FFXIV is the graphics. The battle system is bland, the open world content for end game in horrible (more like nonexistent), and crafting/gathering is mind numbing boring now. The worst part is the lack of end game content which shows that SE could really care less. I will be dropping sub at the end of the month which is pretty sad because HW is still pretty new. I will keep an eye out on 3.1 but I have a feeling its not going to be eye popping awesome content and I'm sure the 3.0 relic is going to be mind numbing boring grind with no reason to get it except for glamour.
