This. The OP will get their wish when they introduce the HW relic quest in all its grindtastic glory. Then we'll see a thread by the OP about a week in complaining that it takes too long to make a HW relic.

Relic quest was nerfed atleast 3 times for them and even after that some people were asking for nerf, this kinda made my long term goal a joke.

IMO they should have kept the 2.x relic completely unnerfed, because they are releasing new relic now anyways, which will replace it and it can be considered a nerf to the old relic too.
They shouldn't demotivate people so much by nerfing everything forum vocal community asks for.
It's more the fact that some of us feel like we were suckered into starting the relic quest by how making the actual relic was paced in the beginning. Killing HM primals when they were relevant was a challenge to the average person (I don't think anyone who played from ARR's has forgotten HM Titan and the multitude of wipes that came from it). If they had kept things at that pace I wouldn't have had a problem with the design of the quests, as progressing the relic would be gated behind challenging (at the time) content.

The problem is that they gated it behind RNG FATE grinds, RNG drops from dungeons, and RNG materia melding. If I had known that's how they were gonna do it, I wouldn't have started a relic in the first place. Sure, it assured content longevity, but also killed any interest I had in the weapon.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

basically relic weapons are the most casual content ever ingame, its designed just for casuals

Nooooooope. While I consider myself a "hardcore gamer," I also consider myself a somewhat "casual" MMO player. And by that I mean, while everyone else is freaking out about gearing up and clearing Savage, I'm over here running old content for the billionth not because I'm leveling a job or need anything from them, but because I just find it fun. Every now and then I will try and set a few goals of my own (such as the time I lvl'd a WHM just to get a relic so I could get "The White" title), but I could quite honestly log on every day, run a bunch of old content for the heck of it, and be completely satisfied.

If they said do 30 FATEs for one atma or 10 dungeons for 1 item, people would cry loud for nerfs anyways. Lights are the perfect example, they could be nice long term goal (raiders farmed them in a few days including me) for casuals.. do a few dungeons now and then, pvp and such and get a few points but nope.. nerfed atleast 2 times because people wanted to have it immediately.

    RNG isn't the reason.

Used to work towards a title in Warcraft which took 2 years to get (Battlemaster) so i get your point. This game however gathers to short term goals (days and weeks) which seems to be a design aim. While i prefer S-E's design i wouldn't mind having some long term goals. Right now i'm working on warrior bear mount so i guess that counts as a long term goal in XIV.

Kinda. My long term goal is the achievement for 5K kills in pvp. ^^
There are some long term goals, but they are kinda heavily optional.
... and that's maybe the reason why they haven't been nerfed yet. :-O

Glamours are my long time goal, and eventually upgrading my medium house to a big one!
But well I agree with a lot of what you said.
For instance, been working 24/7 for 2 months now, and still I have the same gear as everyone else because of how easy it is to cap eso.
So playing an hour a day gets me the best gear outside of raids, while others who only plays this game and nothing else got the same gear as me.
I find it a bit weird that it works that way.

When I'm fully geared I'll probably unsubscribe til next patch

there are countless things in this game which are endless time consuming and often reward you with several titles etc
None of those things are useful, though. That was his point.
