No where in my post did i mention a better harddrive. I compared this game with a game optimized for PC(say, GW2), and pointed out that on the same harddrive, GW2 with better textures does not take longer to load. You never upgraded your hard drive? I've done SSD and hybrid (the SSD crapped out on me) in my PS3 and the difference in load times for installed games is like night and day. So yes, a better hard drive is magic. Hell, I was so impressed with the performance that I put a hybrid drive in my PS4!
Nah there has been plenty of things which developers have said no to because of console limitations. Mostly having to do with UI and overall fairness with console players. TP bar, character creation options, meters are just a few of them. Until they drop support for PS3 it will definitely be holding back the game. Even PS4 might have some unforeseen limitations in the future as PC's improve. Its true that the bigger issues have to do with their incompetence at server management (housing, inventory, login errors) but quite a few things have already been held back because they cant be done on consoles.
Still at the end of the day the fact its on consoles probably helps more than it doesnt. The game would be missing a big chuck of "registered accounts" if it wasnt for consoles IMO.
That makes more sense lol. But wouldn't that be incorrectly setup game settings rather than the fault of the PS3, PS4, or PC?
You can force the display modes on PS3, the game will render accordingly, it's kind of a hold over from the pre-HD days. I can't think of any other reason characters on PS3 would look substantially different in stature to the same characters on a PS4.

Name me this miracle PC game with "much better texture and same amount of load time".This is loads of it. By this logic PC exclusive game with much better texture and same amount of load time must be performing magic on HHD. Console is worse at performance compared to PC is no news, if SE insist on keeping one version then console is very much holding PC back. (Visually, at least. One aspect I really wish they would improve upon.)
Secondly, SE isn't keeping one version of the game. PC already has parallax mapping and tessellation. The PS3 will never be able to do those, so how is it "holding PC back"?
See, the argument (of many) is that the game has overlong load times on the PS3. If you're still using the stock hard drive then yes, it does. But pop in a better hard drive, doesn't have to be hybrid or an SSD, 7200 rpm can suffice, then you will see a marked improvement in load times. This is most obvious in high action games like Dust 514 or Ace Combat Infinity. PCs it's not as obvious because you have RAM providing a loading buffer.
I think if dropping the PS3 will allow them to move forward and do the things that they want with the game, they should do it. If they haven't already (I think they have), allow those who bought the game for the PS3 to transfer their clients for free to the PS4 if they own one.
Preferably this should be done in the months following the next PS4 price drop.
It was free for like a full year
Okay I'm exaggerating, not a year but at least half a year if not more
PS3 to PS4 transfer should be free permanently,
my gf is holding off on buying a PS4 because she doesn't want to pay for ARR and Heavensward again on top of the cost of a PS4
I'd like to see PS3 dropped. Can't see PS4 holding back the game any time soon. As far as the complaints about graphics and such, the beauty of PC is that you can get Sweet FX and watch as the PS4 users whine about your pretty screenshots.
