Feel like I'm posting here too often but here's another fun one...
It's my first time healing in Stone Vigil and we get a tank who says he's new to the dungeon. He's wearing the blue crown and belt piece from the level 45 PLD quest but not the pants or shoes (wearing Mythril Flanchard [takes both boot and pants slots]) and mostly up-to-date gear. The kind of stuff I'd expect a player to be wearing while leveling up.
We kick things off and the first few mobs go OK, but by the time we hit the first hallway, the one where the drake comes down to breathe fire on us for the first time we wipe.
Yep, we wiped in the first hallway.

The tank, while using Flash and his Halone combo (occasionally) was utterly unable to hold aggro to anyone in the party forcing the Dragoon to assume duties as a secondary tank in many situations to keep the aggro off me. We ended up wiping two or three times on our way to the first boss as some of the damage was just coming in too fast for me to heal everyone at once, especially given how hard those patrolling Aevis's could hit. We did make it to the first boss eventually and after buffing everyone up we moved in, only to find that the tank decided it would be fun to spin the boss constantly. He had done this with a few of the mobs but stopped partway through after we brought it up he shouldn't be doing that. After losing one of our DPS and having raised the other only to lose them again, we barely manage to clear the first boss with myself and the tank still alive.
The entire time the tank said nothing, remaining completely silent aside from his opening statement at the start.

We wiped once or twice more approaching the second boss, and at this time I noticed the tank was not only not using his CDs but he also wasn't in any of his Oath stances. I tried to get him to use them but, as ever, he said nothing. At this point our Dragoon drops and we get another Dragoon who's even better than the first and is willing to stick through thick and thin. Aside from some close shaves due to having to heal people a lot the second boss wasn't too bad. Had some problems with typhoons covering the cannons but we all managed without anyone dying.

We didn't lose anyone on our way to the third boss until we reached the last group of mobs before his door, that pack of three Aevis, wiped twice on it but this time something even worse than all the other times happened. After the second wipe I lost power for a moment, shutting off my computer. Took me a few minutes to come back but I was relieved to find that my party hadn't abandoned each other or me and we carried on, this time making it to the door.
We opened the door, talked as we waited for the tank to finish the cut scene and...
Wiped on the final boss three times.

First time the tank used one of his Oaths! Sword Oath to be exact, and then blew Convalescence and Rampart while running to the boss instead of during the fight.
Second time we tried going so far as using the auto-translate tool to tell him to use Shield Oath.
Third time we just gave up trying to help him.
Fourth time we cleared but again, both DPS died during the fight and I was running around almost out of MP so I couldn't raise either of them (already raised one of them during the fight).
Every time we fought the boss the tank would sometimes run into the circles of Frost the boss cast and almost always made sure he was standing in the fly-by breath attack.

In retrospect, we really ought to have kicked him but it took both DPS a long time to get a dungeon and it took me about 10-15 as a healer to get a group as well so we just trudged through.
The experience was quiet shocking for me though, I've only had four group wipes before this, two of which were in Titan with groups of people where everyone was new.

Yeah it is absolutely the tanks fault. Not running through Icebrand and sharing the damage with the party, and Glacier Bash they should just run through Shiva to avoid, just like Garuda's slipstream. Ignoring mechanics and taking a lot of damage is totally on them.

Yeah with that PLD using 45 AF gear, Stone Vigil is 41, and they learn Shield Oath at 40. There is really no excuse to go five levels and not use it, because it will be needed to keep hate at that level. Dragoons will rip hate (and they still will at 60 if not pulling in tank stance). Popping cooldowns on the the run to the boss is amateur, they will likely wear off before the first auto-attack.

Just gonna point out a small correction here - Icebrand in Shiva HM, unlike its EX counterpart, does not split the damage so cleaving the party with this attack is not recommended.

Agree with the rest of the post though. People ignore too many mechanics in Shiva HM for my own liking and at times and that gets the party in deep water.

Man, I haven't had any good stories to share as of late for this thread. My latest one that I got today was from the Ultros trial battle. And I wouldn't even call it so much of a horror story for healers only so much as it is one in general.

    *Round starts up*

"DPS know what to do?" is the first question asked by someone.

*No one answers, despite the fact that a "Newcomer" message flashed across the screen*

    *Tanks pull each boss respectively*

    *DPS become imps*

*Dragoon doesn't stand in front of Ultros at all and just hovers by Typhon*

"DRG! In front of Ultros! You need the bubble stacks!"

*DRG pays no attention period and keeps hovering near Typhon*

*Typhon, to no surprise, pushes everyone off* (I attempted to cheese the mechanic during this part, lol)

"Welp, good luck." a Tank says, and leaves.

The very moment the Tank leaves, all DPS and the other Tank waste no time leaving instantly themselves, leaving only me and other healer standing there.

"Over one wipe. Really? >_>" I thought to myself. As I'm thinking that, the other healer leaves as well. So I finally left myself.

I find in those cases it's often a group from an FC or some friends playing with a Tank who are up their backside because they want quick queues. Groups from an FC are the absolute worst to heal for in DF because they will often stick together and gang up on a Healer when things go wrong and if you try to correct them they just kick you. All the best FC's and statics do well because they give each other constructive criticism and feedback instead of defending somebody who is wrong just because you are in the same group.

Though even with randoms I've seen that gang up on the Healer behaviour. Last night got Fractal for EXDR and the DRK pulls the first few mobs I start in CS doing holy a couple of times, assize, aero II, CS off tetra, regen, holy couple more times Tank is taking tons of damage use bene mobs still taking forever to die and Tank is like paper. He ends up dying then starts saying "If you can't DPS and heal then don't" well I threw everything I could at him most Tanks will be fine with just the tetra back to full HP and a regen while the mobs are burned down.

It's depressing when a Tank tries to be Billy Big Spuds pulling tons of mobs when they don't have the skill or gear to deal with it.

Of course the DPS backed the Tank and I got kicked. I'd stopped being interested at that point I'd have to babysit the Tank the whole time through slow pulls because the DPS was so low.

    I queued for A3 this morning and got into a group with two warriors. I noticed that both of them were in deliverance, even during the trash pulls (I was actually ok with that). Once we get to the boss, I was really hoping one of them would turn on defiance. We stand there for a minute or so and one of the tanks decides to pull, but they both still have deliverance on. I'm fine if the tanks can handle it or if there's a burn phase, but I ain't gonna lie, never been in a group where there's no one in a tanking stance (for the entire time). D;

I guess they kind of handled it ok... aggro was all over the place at the very beginning, but one of the tanks managed to stabilize the hate. Everyone was veeeeery high on the aggro list though. Once the boss splits into two hands, the off tank doesn't take one of them for 30 seconds or so, so my healing partner (a scholar) and I are spamming heals on the main tank. Even with each tank having their own hand to tank, it was a nightmare trying to guess which tank would take the next big hit, since both of their hp bars were dropping real fast, and at different times.

Main tank dies, followed by the off tank, and then we wipe. The main tank turns on defiance this time, but then stays in deliverance for the rest of the fight (think he turned it on during the twister phase). Near the end, the off tank swaps with the main tank, but the hate is bouncing between the both of them, so the main tank kept getting stacks along with the off tank. One of the dps died because we couldn't spare any heals with both the tanks taking massive damage. Was definitely an interesting healing experience for me (and probably the scholar too).

Ugh... I ran into one of this kind just yesterday and Im still pissed about it...
It was A2, in the initial pulls we noticed how the PLD just couldn't hold the enmity by himself, and all the WAR did was say "hey, dont lose the hate". As in, you could help, dude...

Then we proceed and I ask once we get on the room "who gets on the gobbie?", could have been me inmediatelly which I wouldn't have minded had they said. But having 2 BRDs in the party it was more than expected that one of them would hop on...

Any volunteers? Nope... of course nope... then we proceed and PLD dude does his best but obviously is not enough... WAR dude in DPS stance goes pulling things but loses the aggro almost instantly to me (I was NIN), the MNK, or my friend's fairy... eventually, bombs starting coming up, no one on the gobbie and with a Jag Doll on the loose because the WAR wouldn't spare the time to actually tank, it targets me and I die...

I get a res so with weakness on me and already losing hope on both DPS and Tanks (specially the Tanks) I hop on the Gobbie and start managing the bombs and vulning up things... you know... gobbie stuff... sadly the DPS from the Bards couldn't make up for my loss on the ground (not saying BRDs are bad as a job, but those guys sure weren't) :/

Anyway, comes last round, 2 Jag Dolls on the loose with no Tank taking them and we wipe, of course. Then WAR comes up and says "the highest DPS is the WAR, we have a BRD doing 300 dps and a i200 weapon NIN doing the same, sad", I often have patience but that comment was ridiculous so I jumped on him "Dude, I died, because you were NOT Tanking, and with weakness on me I found myself more useful on the gobbie that no one took, obviously my DPS would drop!".

Of course the WAR never got down from his high cloud =___=

I know this was a DPS horror story, but you healers find this kind of people more often than me so my respect to you guys.

Once I got Sastasha for the low level roulette for tomes. We had a paladin that didn't use flash. They only focused on keeping agro on a single enemy and there was at least one caster DPS in the group. Told them three times to please use flash still didn't do it. So it was then that Eos would fulfill her destiny as a tank. I commanded Eos to pull groups and use whispering dawn to generate healer enmity and told the DPS to focus down the enemies Eos was tanking since she can't keep agro forever with that. We managed to actually get to the last stretch of dungeon before the final boss when the paladin finally started using flash.

The dps and I did a double take when we saw that as we thought they used it by mistake. I still had Eos tank anyway since she was better at it and there was no reason to trust the tank despite them using flash now. Cleared the dungeon and left hoping it never happens again.

Today i once again learned that using duty finder for ex primals is a really bad idea.
Tried to go for an "easy" garuda ex as warmup to get all the rest done. Still stuck on captain ass crack.

So we joined and instantly a person saids he is new and asks if it is the same as HM. Great start
So her first big attack you have to hide from behind stones (forgot the name) half the group gets hit including a person dead.
We rezz and get to the add phase and here is when stuff turns bad.

    First try:
Both adds getting tanked but for some reason not enough dps to even kill 1 and die cause of ultimate.

    Second try:
One add constantly running free and ganking me and my fellow healer. I save him when he is getting ganked and get add on me, i die.
Not enough dps to kill adds before ulti

    Third try:
same as second except this time both of us heals make sure no regen effects of any types are running. Still get aggro and die

    Fourth try:
Finally manage to kill the adds and ulti goes off. Spiny plume somehow gets killed at the right point but half the group is not in the bubble and dies.

    Fifth try:
Best DPS just left and crazy warrior tank does not care and rushes in. Not enough dps, adds running free, all around chaos.

    Vote abbandon happened.
